Umm...this one might be coming out of left field, but the aggressive running of Lazzaro and his smarts would be a perfect replacement for Hall moving forward over the next 3 seasons until Hall's retirement.

He has great speed, attacks the ball well, has good vision and smarts, excellent hands in close, seems tough as nails. The only missing thing is supreme fitness and penetration with his kicking.

Lazz will be part of the midfield rotations, but we already have a stacked young midfield, it may pay to think about how our growing brigade of good, young players who are slightly down the pecking order can effectively contribute to our attacking game plan.

The most impressive thing I noticed about him is his link-up work and high involvement on offensive transition. Multiple double efforts in a single chains were invaluable at VFL level.
Yeah, he looks good when he does it. Pickett does that sort of thing for Melbourne and everyone reckons he is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Yeah I like this - especially if JHF comes in and plays the forward role.

Lazz should do extra sessions with Hally over the next couple of years to understand the fitness levels required to play that role.

we are literally going to have usain bolt on our team

It's unmistakeable how many of them have got PTs over the off-season; Noble must have laid out his expectations pretty clearly, and while Brady is cleaning up the S&C side of things, the message seems to be no excuses, get your own programs and come back fit(ter)

Is it possible COVID restrictions are playing a part in it? IIRC there are carveouts for elite athletes that allow them to train and use gyms etc, but does it have to be hand in hand with a PT or something perhaps? Genuinely don't know, but it's been startling just how many players are involved in one program or another in their offseason.

Excellent point; here’s me thinking there’s some mastermind at work

It might also be possible that players did this in previous years, but the prevelance of social media nowadays is just highlighting what early training is undertaken.

Good on the guys though. I wouldn't begrudge them for taking a few more weeks off to relax and get some mental R&R!

Just a thought, but maybe the boys have had a pre pre-season chat with Kevin White, the newly appointed Head of Performance, and are getting a head start on next seasons preparation already.
Apparently he recommended mountain bike riding.
