We're terrible against the new ball. When is the last time we've had a blistering start? That is always when the ball is hardest and best time to go after the bowlers. The majority of India's quicks are struggling to break 130 and we're treating them with respect with no use of the crease and not aggression from the outset.

Dhoni is infuriating. Such a great ODI batsman, looks almost impossible to get out at the best of times.

Average batting display was the main problem. We don't have the strike power in the bowling to defend a total like this.

Is anyone able to explain to me what Cameron White's role in the team is?

Ive asked this question throughout this game. The Cameron White I want to see is the aggressive one that comes out and looks to attack from ball 1. At the moment he seems very defensive. Strike rate of 71% in T20 champions league, strike rate of low 60's throughout champions trophy and 3 games in India so far.

1 good Series against a mediocre England attack.

This team sucks royally. Phil Hughes and Warner should be opening on the back of their recent form. I know it was T20, but they're red hot at the moment. Rapid new ball punishment has been eluding us. Watson could drop down to 5. Voges out. Marsh forget it. F'n shame about Fergs. I'd have McDonald in for Henriques. Goodbye Mr.White. Be worth a look at Bollinger for a few more in Bracken's container role. Siddle out for Nannes. Siddle just isn't a wicket taker. He can't take wickets *when needed* even though he tries his guts out. Hasn't got the arsenal. Without Lee we rely too heavily on Johnson to make breakthroughs. Be nice to have Tait back at full flight. Near enough to 2 wickets a game at 25...maybe next year (but don't bet on it)...Nannes would have to be worth a shot now.

Tait won't be back, Hughes is one who I would like to see in the ODI side, Warner... nah, lets see him do well at ODD instead of the T20's. Pick SPECIALIST openers and put Watson at 5 or 6.

For this summer:

Hughes - Performed well in the ODD's and we know he is an international cricketer
Marsh - Performed solidly last summer against SA, made a few 50's and gave us a solid platform
Ponting - Say no more
Clarke - Class player, tell him to score more fluently and he'll be great
Hussey - Great recent form
Watson - Will do well down the order, great hitter, not sure about his bowling
Haddin - Prefer Paine, but he's coming back and is a good batsman, but average keeper
Lee - 150kmh bowler and can slog some lower order runs
Johnson - see Lee
Hauritz - Surprised at how economical he has been, well done to him
Nannes - Give him a shot, if it work great, but he deserves a go at it

I would prefer Tim Paine in there instead of Haddin, but it's pretty much confirmed that Haddin is coming straight back in regardless of how well Paine went.

Players not far off that squad:
Paine
Voges - like him, but shouldn't be in our first XI
White - If he's in play him down the order as a striker, thats's what he is not a nudger
Siddle - I like him in tests, not too sure about ODI's, but he's better than most
Hilfenhaus - Same as Siddle's comment, a very good player though
Henriques - Selectors love him and he looks decent, still young
Carseldine - Stop the youth obsession, pick the best side, look at his form over the last two years
Hopes - Handy cricketer to have in the team, decent bowler, average batter

Probably some I missed

At our best I would be going

Haddin
Warner
Ponting
Clarke
Watson
Hussey
Ferguson
Johnson
Lee
Hauritz
Siddle/Bollinger/Nannes

Hopefully Warner can get bring his leggies out as Clarke probably won't be bowling again.

I just don't see why, on the back of India scoring 350 on a flat pitch everyone is suddenly ready to usher a man who has scored 4 centuries in his last 26 innings down the order.

Great effort by India on a shocking pitch, at leas it's a change from the batting beauty's around the world these days. MS Dhoni ****ing gun so cool and calm nothing seems to get to him, good to see Sachin get some touch back on a tough pitch as well, Australia should have won that I seriously thought 230 was a great score, but Yuraj and Dhoni settled things down with a great 100+ stand.

Probably some I missed

Stuart Clark, why is he considered less of a bowler in the short form? He's a keep it tight bowler isn't he. It's funny they use to point to his record to suggest him less of an ODI bowler but now his Odi record is looking quite formidable compared to Siddle and Hilfenhaus.

wow

Watson = Fail. Ponting (who loves the bloke) didnt even have the faith to bowl him

Henriques = Fail.

Voges = Fail. Why the hell would you rate Voges ahead of Marsh, which would also allow Ponting t play at three?

who could have seen that coming...

Aus could easily field the best ODI team in the world, but the selectors are doing their absolute best to ensure that doesnt happen. It's absurd!
