7 for Tuck
6 for Harry, Leeter, Bluey Adams and Barassi
5 for Bartlett, G Coventry, Rumney, Dibbs, Brereton, Mew, Ayres
4 for Dunstall, Dipper, Langford, Buckenara, Kennedy, Platten, Jesaulenko, Pike, Beveridge, S Coventry, Matthews, Hutchison, Reynolds, Chesswas, Makeham etc. Heaps have won four

Collingwood (1927-36), Essendon (1942-50), Melbourne (1955-64), Hawthorn (1978-91) most represented clubs. Must be a few more Carlton players in the mix, surely

^ Not the whole Collingwood team. Just over half.

Edit: with just 18 players in a team, 12 played together in flags 1927-30. Good effort to keep two-thirds on the park for four flags in a row

That is impossible, they must have been rorting the salary cap:p Asterix those flags.

They were the Sydney of their time. Side remained unchanged for 6 consecutive weeks - rounds 3-8, 1929.

greg phillips won 10 premierships with the real port adelaide....the port magpies.......no the pretend team they call the power

Barrassi may be a horrible enemy of Collingwood, but even a one-eyed Pie like me has to concede he is the true Grand Final King. Played in 6 flag sides, coached what? another 4? Lost four or more as a coach too, perhaps 2 as a player?

I know Norm Smith coached 6 or something but was never a great player like "Mrs Football", it should be called the Barrassi medal.

Funny thing, the Pies payed every player the same (IIRC it was 3 quid, they later upped it to 5 quid each). Players could get much more, even in the VFA. Ron Todd later crossed to Williamstown and got paid a pound per goal on top of his match payments, and he kicked 188!

They truly played for the love of the jumper in them days. That and the little extras John Wren would distribute in the rooms after thas game. Lou Richards has a funny story about that, I forget how it goes.

Smith mightn't have been the flashiest player and his playing record might not read quite as well, but to say he wasn't a great player is a bit harsh.

Maybe we're using a different scale?

Barrassi as a player > Smith

Barrassi as a coach > or = Smith

Barrassi as a GF performer > Smith

in my somewhat ignorant view.
