And a good effort when you consider 80% of our inside 50s are not lace out passes.Eight goals in four games and none have been against easy opponents. He's earned a spot.

Replaces Langford I think. The post-game comments proves to me that some people don't appreciate natural goal-kickers over all the extra mayo.
Some players just know where the goals are and where to position themselves inside 50 without the extra fanfare or standout skills. He is kicking goals vs good opponents with our putrid ball movement where we can barely crack 7 goals for the game.
We already have Caddy as the crazy talent and May who will be a huge unit of a tall forward. McMahon is a dangerous 3rd tall that complements the others.
He’s a better forward than both jones and EdwardsYeah hes a good kick at goal but im not seeing it. With edwards and Jones already re-signed I only see a spot for him if Langford leaves
Really? I’d say he’s a jack gunston typeHe's our 2025 version of Mitch Brown.

Thing is you do not have to fit them all in. If McMahon stays as a rookie and everyone is fit then as you say some are in the VFL.Replaces Langford I think.
Can the forwardline fit Caddy, May, MacMahon, Edwards and a resting ruckman though? Too tall. Someone joins Jones in the VFL.
I actually wouldn't mind May playing VFL for a bit. Work on leading and body work under the ball, build momentum and return to seniors as a unit. He's got plenty of time. I'd like him to take Wright's spot.Thing is you do not have to fit them all in. If McMahon stays as a rookie and everyone is fit then as you say some are in the VFL.
Possible changes to the sub rule may change things a little.
Not arguing that but the problem is we have re-signed those two already. In a perfect world jones would get the flick, maybe the play is shop Langford around? He’s a better forward than both jones and Edwards
Easily.I would keep him ahead of Blakiston IMO.
Really? I’d say he’s a jack gunston type
You'd have to say Edwards at this stage. I like what McMahon brings to the side a little more. Also we don't know how he will come back. Although that is ambitious given our injury history.Replaces Langford I think.

Exactly what I was thinkingReally? I’d say he’s a jack gunston type
We do still need a competent crumber.Competent footballer, possibly high football IQ, genuinely higher than your average tall, but listening to the commentary I feel the need to point out that he did nothing in the air, couldn't get separation on the lead and kicked crumbing goals.
His performance was almost of no relevance to the role of playing as a key forward. The solution to our small forward problems is not to play pseudo balls who crumb.
I'm not saying necessarily saying delist but I'd like to see him at least make a contest in the air more than once. But I'm also saying that last night wouldn't give me even a moments hesitation chopping for a list spot unless he shows something in the next few games.
Hopefully with sweid likely to come in next year he can play kakos current role and kako can play closer to goal. But agree our small forward stock isn't great atm.We do still need a competent crumber.
It depends on what you're looking for. I'm not looking for a contested marking beast with McMahon. He may be 198cm but he plays much smaller than his size while still being tall enough to stretch a defence. Someone made the Gunston comparison and I agree with it. Also, a crumbing tall is not something to downplay either.Competent footballer, possibly high football IQ, genuinely higher than your average tall, but listening to the commentary I feel the need to point out that he did nothing in the air, couldn't get separation on the lead and kicked crumbing goals.

Edwards’ contract extension was based on four goals in a practice match. Think McMahon has wel passed that. He has real goal sense. You'd have to say Edwards at this stage. I like what McMahon brings to the side a little more. Also we don't know how he will come back. Although that is ambitious given our injury history.
I'd like to think he ends up as a Jack Gunston type, but he's more Mitch Brown right now to me.Really? I’d say he’s a jack gunston type
Agree, but it's tge corner we've paibted ourselves into. We really should be keeping Langers and shopping Jones. If Langford requests a trade, we're likely getting a second round pick in a poor draft. Not arguing that but the problem is we have re-signed those two already. In a perfect world jones would get the flick, maybe the play is shop Langford around?
He also kicked 3 on debut against the Crows.Edwards’ contract extension was based on four goals in a practice match. Think McMahon has wel passed that. He has real goal sense.
Fair point and most players don't have every attribute except some of the legends of the game. Even Dunstall who is in the top couple of players I have seen wasn't really a strong pack mark with the high ball. The only thing I would like to see with McMahon when he is running full tilt with pressure from behind is marking out front. He is an upgrade on so many we have had who lack athleticism but also IQ and skills as he definitely has the latter two.i’m less concerned with his contested marking capabilities presently (caddy and may both can pluck them) and moreso that he’s genuinely reliable in front of goal. he’s taking his opportunities when he gets them
