He wasn't great.

But he wasn't nearly as bad as some in here are making him out to be.
I don't think it really matters.

The fact is, it hasn't worked(again) and now we need to find this bloke a position that enhances the team.

He simply hasn't got the pace or kicking skills and cannot defend worth a pinch of shit...

"Caleb is an elite kick and decision-maker, who will add composure to our defensive mix," North's footy boss Brady Rawlings said.

  • So it is very clear 6 months into a 4 year deal that Daniel is none of those things above that Rawlings was quoted with saying back in October.
  • In 2022 the Dogs extended his contract at the time another 2 years @ $750K a year to the end of 2026.
  • In 2024 he played in 16 games, and in 8 of those he was the sub. Bevo started pumping games into Sanders, Freijah, Bramble etc.
  • So the role recruited we give up #25 and on current form it should have been a 3rd round pick at best.
  • He will not get any faster, kick longer or jump higher in the next 3.5 years. Will he regain his elite kicking and composure is up for debate.
  • Clarko/Viney/Rawlings are still picking him and why?
  • Hope he comes good.
  • Ego of getting the whole trade wrong.
  • He is this awesome leader out here and is great with the kids.
  • Is a bad look for future targets if they are dropped into the VFL 1 year into a multi year deal.
  • ????
The Board at the season’s EOY review should be asking the hard questions to everyone that was involved in signing off on this deal. WTF are the plans for the next 3 years to mitigate this abomination? This is not personal against Daniel. Sure he is a top bloke and clubman and all that. But the reality is he would be disappointed with the way he is playing and hurting our charge up that ladder. I think he is only there at the moment with all the injuries down back + ego of the above 3. This trade and giving up the R1 Tigers pick (Whitlock - judge in 3 years) will haunt this club for years to come.

It’s amazing isn’t it. A number of us thought that this Daniel trade was idiotic at the time. It was a too higher price for a guy who was struggling to be best 22 at his previous club. A guy that is so small that he can’t defend. And we are just bozos that post on BigFooty. :stern look

Yet the clowns at the club thought it a good idea. Clowns that have a Footy background. That have been in the business of Football for years. That should know better. An A Grade Bonafide Turkey in Rawling. It’s an indictment on those at the club who could rissole this incompetent fool that he still has a job at the club. Vineys who appears from afar to cater to Clarko’s every request as opposed to keeping him in check as we were promised. And Clarko whose greatest failing is when he gets involved in recruitment. What an absolute balls up. :stern look

Daniel used to cut us to pieces off their hbf. Because his teammates ran to spots for those dinky little kicks. That's what Clarkson wants happening ... but it isn't right now.

No good sides are doing this and this includes the Bulldogs who gave him the arse.

If this is truly Clarko’s strategy we are seriously in trouble.

He’s wanting decade old football.

It’s complete garbage.

Will finish top ten in our B&F, nothing surer.

Best way to keep your job is to ensure your decisions are on point. Fudge the figures, wouldn't be the first time this has happened fyi
playing every game will give you a very good chance of finishing top 10.

Do people remember when we traded out Levi Greenwood for a second round pick, coming off a second placing in the Syd Barker?

Pepperidge Farm remembers. And that we picked Dan Neilson with that second round pick who had the footy smarts and skills of a choko.

Daniel is a one trick pony and that trick is pretty woeful. When he has the pill, put him under pressure and ensure that there's no dangerous outlet kick 30 metres upfield so he goes a useless chip 15 metres sideways or turns it over.

Furthermore, as opposed to the Bulldogs, there's almost no one that does the gut running to be an outlet or can be trusted to win a 50:50 contest so we've nullified what little scope there is to use him.

When is the members Q & A for the recruiters and list managers? Or will we not bother this year seeing as Scott Clayton is leaving and won't be able to spruik Matt McGuiness' prowess as the next Peter Mann?

I don’t blame most of the team. Blokes like FOS, Kerch and Stiffy have been providing proper outlets that would work if Daniels would attempt to kick more than 14 metres. Instead, when he can’t see an option that suits him he changes direction and we lose any possible momentum that we might have had. Whoever he passes to is under the pump and if they do find enough time and space to dispose then it’s almost inevitable that their option is blanketed by an opponent.
