That was this blokes response on the WC board to Langdon getting ko'd.
Sorry but the moral high ground will have to remain vacant.

If last season is anything to go by, there’s usually a nasty surprise injury on the Monday after a game too.
We know Lobb and Walters are injured.
Odds of Alex Pearce having a “setback” on his ankle reported tomorrow? Please let it not be the case.
Two of the most serious injuries last season were total unknowns that were reported on the Tuesday after they occurred - Logues toe and sturts ankle.

I thought that Pearce played really well actually tonight and adds so much structure to our defence. He’s such an integral component of our defence when fit.

While it's always better to win than lose, what we can actually take from the outside from that match isn't what would go to the bank.

It's been the lowest scoring match so far, not sure what you'd pin that to... maybe some bruised egos from last week and slowing the game down strategies.

Still who knows what intentions were what, training loads, cards held to chest etc.

There's a reason that campaigner has been blocked by most of this board. Hardly representative.

- Ryan, Cerra, Serong straight back in for Blakely, Banfield and Colyer.
- Fyfe needs to start forward - it's robbing Peter to pay Paul, but we need a reliable high forward marking target with Lobb out.
- Chapman, Treacy and Meek (regardless of Darcy's fitness) should all get a go Round One.
- Acres should have a question mark over him - think Freddy deserves to start on the wing.

Ryan Cox Pearce
Young Hamling Wilson
Aish Brayshaw Frederick
Fyfe Taberner Crowden
Treacy Meek Schultz
Darcy Serong Cerra
Mundy Chapman Henry Hughes
I like that team especially with Fyfe playing extended time in the forward line.

Not convinced Henry deserves a berth.

Tabs having a mare

We have a number of time had good ball movement getting into the 50 then forwards completely stuff it up, really deflating.
Lol Tabs.
Tabs happy to take a mulligan on this game you'd think.
Useless Taberner
Vintage Tabs today
Normally that would be a compliment. 😂
Tabs over the years has played some good footy and bad footy. This year will be no different.

Some of you will be in that Taberner thread this season

Sorry mate, got bored watching this one.

Don’t stress, save it for a couple weeks time. Maybe another few pre-seasons and questionable draft picks and you’ll be there abouts. We’ll let Trew get 9 touches and winder 5 in a quarter until you’re ready.

Or we could sell the farm for an overated spud from Geelong....

Small positive for me was how composed and clean Chapman was.
Got a feeling he’ll prove to be a very astute pick in 2 years time

You can tell he’s a natural footballer with a footballers brain. He looks like the kind of player that could be slotted in anywhere on the park and look good.
really want to see him play 10-15 games this season.

The Eagles brought serious intensity into the game, which came after last's weeks smashing and humiliation from the press. They came out breathing fire as a result and treated the game like a regular home and away match.

Our intensity and pressure was the exact opposite, and our skills came up as substandard against the Eagles pressure. How on earth did we only lose by 10 points after losing Lobb, Crowden and Walters during the game?

We also don’t bat as deep. They still had 3 high quality mids and we had 1.

Can we put in an inquiry as to why the umps are changing the rules to give Eagles free-kicks?

When you do this can you also ask how two players going for the loose ball clash heads accidentally and one gets a free? :drunk::rolleyes:

If it was a free then the umpires deemed that one player deliberaltely head butted the other? Should go the tribunal then?

And not sure if raised earlier but I suggest the reason Fyfe was booed when play restarted was not against Fyfe but booing the umpires who somehow decided a free was paid from an accidental head clash. Very strange indeed.

Fyfe had paddled the ball already and was head over it when he was collected. It’s a free kick.

Ive noticed a number of times West Coast have bumped-pushed players who don't have the ball to gain possession nd been getting away from it..
We need to study that one and learn from it

No they don't need to practice, they already know how to do that. Saw last week some pretty unsociable football off the ball with Fyfe and others pushing Gaff in the back without the ball into other players on the run or into the turf. Obviously targeting him still after THAT incident a few years ago.

I'd suggest on review of the first game and the unsociable treatment dished out that some Eagles went and reminded some Freo boys 'that door can swing both ways'.

We live and learn.

Are you being serious? Fyfe had his eyes on the ball & your boy didn’t. He was clumsy, had poor technique & had is eyes on Fyfe, not the ball. If he went in with the correct technique of bum first they would have got corks not head knocks.
Dont be a dick & accept that your boy had poor technique & his focus wasn’t on the ball, stop carrying on about MRP. Perhaps contact your club to ensure they’re teaching the correct technique so it doesn’t happen again.
We do at our club from Auskick on.

Ok...............

So it was deliberate by Langdon hence the free kick was paid?

If a free was paid a rule must have been broken resulting in dangerous head high contact. So a charge from the MRP should be coming then?

A bit like when you slide in and take another players leg out, but miraculously are rewarded a free kick.

Accidental high contact is still high contact and get rewarded as a free kick all the time. Who gets there first matters in collisions like this.

It’s like the reverse of the Banfield-Sheppard free later in the game.

Sheppard made accidental contact below the knee, Banfield made accidental contact above the shoulder.

But Sheppard got there first (ie, had hands on the ball) so it’s his free kick.

Footy has been like this forever.
