The only problem being is the opposition would intercept and be in under your posts.

Risk v reward - like quick hands in real life, if the opposition knows what you're going to attempt, and can pre-empt it then you have to execute it well or you'll turn it over - or just don't do it, as a double bluff.

Anyone got the switch version? I thought it would be cool to play it portable. I'm regretting it big time. Get a ps4 or xbox version if u can. It's the buggiest game I've ever played. It's just inexcusable how bad it is.

I am having fun with it though. Once u surrender to how buggy it is and how terrible the graphics are, and you get a deep handling of the controls, you can have a lot of fun.

Not having a crack, just making an observation, but the majority of the animation is the same PS3 animation as the original AFL Live, I say that as I know the animation intimately - Sebastian Giompaolo may be able to confirm this but I don't believe there has been any additional motion capture since our game?
I think you’ll find you are WRONG on this point. Believe they used this for some fresh animations...

Holy moly.

How does a game get released with some of these bugs? I mean you can sit down for even an hour of play and come across quite a few of them.

I suspect they wanted to win some brownie points by getting it released early for covid 19 hoping thaf would give them time to patch instead of another full delay.

Submission would have been at least 8 weeks prior to the release date, it's been out of the developers hands for a while now. They got it out because they could, other releases have been pulled worldwide, so manufacture and shipping has occurred faster than expected. We're past the 23rd April now, if there was a planned patch for release (as many here stated and hung their hats on), it would have been live now.

You have only assumed. They said a patch is still TBA with player rating and unknown fixes, no 'day 1 patch mentioned. Not every game gets a day one patch either.

Stop with the misinformation.

Looks like you were spot on.

I know I said I wouldn't be back but after getting notifications about this thread quite a bit and looking at these posts.

I just feel sad more than anything. I honestly wish we could just get a good AFL game at this point... What did we do as fans to deserve this.

Are you struggling with dates? Yes, literally there was a day one “patch” but considering they were aiming for a 23rd April launch - nearly 3 weeks later, what makes you think they wouldn’t have been planning to patch it more comprehensively on that date?

(They can’t “just update” the 1.0 version when physical discs have been manufactured weeks or months earlier already. Hence why almost every day 1 game I’ve played in the past few years has had a very big day 1 patch.)

proof will be in the pudding. If WW push out a decent patch that fixes many of our gripes (as they did in Evo 1) by the 23rd April, then hopefully a few come back here and say “ah, fair enough. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to play it 3 weeks earlier than planned while stuck at home, and fixing bugs on the original release date”)...

It's almost as if v1.01 was their planned day 1/23rd April patch...

I love that we have a thread of passionate football and video game fans here with 119 pages filled of great ideas and legit feedback and the only game developer contributing to the conversation has nothing to do with the game's creation 🤦‍♂️

Why is Jackson Mead in the SANFL? He plays for Sydney now!
Ah the list of bugs keeps growing.

Simulated more seasons, and it gets more broken. Who would skip their first pick?

Holy moly.

Just seems coach career mode in particular there has been no attention to detail to give it the attention it deserves to make sure things ran right in terms of simulating everything to do with list management, injuries, drafting and trading so they were realistic rather than just randomly thrown in there.
Know nothing about the gaming industry but embarrassing quality control for a product you produced as a company.. but i suspect is it what this industry is like. If they get fixed in time, in a timely manner, it would justify releasing early in terms of still allowing us to play with it before it professionally produced product., if this is not that uncommon for this industry.

I think they've all gone on lock down but forgotten the basics of MS teams... And the web forums their products are being discussed.

You're talking about the missing the goals from two yards and clearing the ball on the full.

All of them.

So many things are broken for a game that's been in development for half a decade, it can't be coincidence

And if there was a lick of QA done, not one of those people had watched a game of AFL in their life.

Take the CPU skipping pick 1 bug for instance. The game isn't broken as in it still functions, but it's something that would never happen in real life

Maybe the patch will come out with 150 fixes. That would be a fair result

I worked QA for a few years, I know how important it is to know the business from the ground up

Here's something I prepared earlier, I did mean to post it on the 23rd April, but do hope it's still appropriate. Apparently a few of us need to do it.

Hey Ross, can you use your sponsorship to finagle an AFL licence and get cracking on AFL ReLive? ;)

I like the title ;)

It's purely in support of the Club, it has nothing to do with making a video game, now is the time to step up and help, it's when the Clubs need us all the most. The Blues have had to stand down 80%, including assistant coaches, we have actually increased our commitment because of the times.

PS: A much younger Carlton Cheer Squad Member version of me would never have believed this possible.... It's gone down well with HBK619 and others on BA HQ internal chat:

Lots of people have mentioned how good it is that Big Ant are in this thread but all I've seen are pot shots at Wicked Witch and 50 different posts from them about being sponsors of Carlton's AFLW team
I had a go at them but to be fair Wicked Witch aren't even responding... Pretty shit from them
