I must say I love the Match Day mode now that it works with the season back up and running. I have a bit of a routine on match day, playing the Eagles' opponent in whatever the latest AFL game is, but I usually don't bother going through the teams making sure they're all accurate, choosing the right time of day, the weather etc. Love that this does it all for me. I did have to set Allen as second ruck and Hurn to do kick-ins though.

Flogged Gold Coast with Ah Chee of all players the chief destroyer. 7 goals.

Remember ages ago someone reported some random doing a line of commentary? I thought it had been fixed but I copped it when Ah Chee kicked his 5th. Someone other than Hudson or Lyon, probably a developer. Was quite funny.

Awesome! Did even know this was a thing (thought it was more about playing the “team of the week”)

So do you need to play it on the day? Or any day before the game, or weekend? And it sets the ground, time, teams etc automatically? Sounds great!

Not sure how often it updates, I'm assuming once teams have been announced? But yes, it sets up the ground, time, teams etc automatically.

Another cool feature is that once the game has been played in real life, you can go back and load up the start of any quarter to see if you can change history. The scores will accurately reflect the real-life scores at the start of each quarter. You don't have to wait until the round is finished either, seems like you just have to wait for the game you want to play to finish.

I took advantage of this after the Gold Coast disaster, loaded the game up at the start of the last with the Eagles well behind, and in my alternate history the Eagles stormed home, with a goal after the siren to win it (earned the achievement for doing that too). Freaking awesome.

You can also go back to do the same with any of the Round 1 games too.

Love this mode.

Finished my season with West Coast the other day. Went into the Grand Final against the Western Bulldogs with Josh Kennedy on 90 goals for the season. Don't think he'd kicked a bag of 10 all year, so I was up against it to try and get his century (five minute quarters). Was my third game against the Bulldogs in the space of four matches (Round 23, Qualifying Final [which went to extra time] and Grand Final). I'm not sure whether players with a high clutch rating make them perform better in big games like GF's, but Luke Shuey went absolutely ballistic. Kicked the first three goals of the game from the midfield. Ended with 26 disposals, six goals and the Norm Smith, unreal numbers for that length of quarters.

Kennedy started quietly but had six goals by half time, so I was quietly confident of getting him the ton. Kicked two in the third quarter, but I just couldn't get find him in the last term. Not sure what my tactics were, I just went with the default when I picked West Coast at the start of the campaign, but my FF in Kennedy was very rarely playing out of the goalsquare, usually found him towards the forward pocket or a bit higher up the ground. Was disappointing to finish with 98 goals, but was a good campaign nonetheless, won the Grand Final by about 60 points.

Now doing a season with Carlton. About eight rounds in, have only dropped one game so far (I know, how unrealistic). It was against North. Was leading all day, by as much as 40 points in the third term, but they came back. I grabbed the lead with about 30 seconds on the clock, but the Roos took it forward and kicked it to an unguarded goalsquare. Zurhaar and my defender were running back and Zurhaar managed to boot it off the ground and give North the lead with about 0.2 seconds remaining.
Time to up the difficulty from amateur lol

Totally unrealistic....:p

What's this data update? (still very new to this game..)

i went to 'match day' or game day, or something, which lets you play the games that have just happened the previous few days or/and upcoming matches (i think)

(i think) it says new squads available if you press triangle or something

then it downloads them and Richmond list seems to be correct post this update

i assumed they have fixed some mistakes like Stack/Graham and changed some players ratings(?)

edit: so when you do that, its changes the list (richmond list anyway), on career mode / seasons

Does anyone know how to reduce the opposition doing soccer kicks? Just got killed with it and they where kicking ridiculous goals with it

nope, there is no way.

The ball tapping slider doesn’t affect it.

I’ve raised this on their support forum, with suggestions of either they only allow soccering within, say 2m of the goal line, or better yet, just let us be able to disable any soccering. I’d be optioning that in a heartbeat.

For the slight loss in realism in forcing you to pickup the ball near the line (and will inevitably result in a few accidental rushed behinds), it would more than make up for it by removing the constant AI soccering chains.

Even if nothing else, they surely could make it go for in random directions, to avoid the soccer chain goals?

Had one game where it felt like I was playing against AC Milan. Had one chain where they didn't even touch the ball inside 50. Soccered inside the arc, soccered towards the pocket, crossed it to the square and soccered it through.

I don't have this game, but how many variations of messages on the banner are there? I reckon in the last game it was just the club logo on the banner or something.

Theres a few for each different club now with different messages. Probably about 4-5 each for normal season matches.
Theres also different ones for when clubs play finals, like in the picture.
Then when a player has a milestone it will say on the banner (e.g. "CONGRATULATIONS SLOANE 200 GAMES"), which is a nice touch

I'd be very surprised if you see another patch now, but good on em if they are doing another. Guessing that Sebastian would now have the WW team full steam ahead on Rugby Challenge 4 as priority, and just a few people focused on prepping Evo2 PC for release and putting out the weekly AFL Match Centre data updates on the server.

They've done well so far but the game needs more patches MORE I SAY MORE!

I thought they said there would be a patch to take further advantage of the Unreal Engine etc?

Unless having an option to remove the crowd to make it run better was that update :straining:

Pretty sure in quite a few of their replies (since the last patch) they have noted that ”we will look into that for the next patch”.

- I might be wrong, but pretty sure I’ve read that

Here is hoping they have the go ahead to follow through on that.

Been watching games this season with an eye to how well Evolution 2 represents the modern game, and I must say it does a pretty good job.

GWS vs Bulldogs was one-on-one contests everywhere. Everyone had a direct opponent whenever the camera zoomed out to provide a wider view. The complaints about one-on-ones are a bit overblown, and is probably more of a complaint against strict 6-6-6 type positioning where forwards never leave the forward 50 etc. That doesn't happen in Evo 2.

The Eagles vs Brisbane game, particularly in the first half, was a slog. Every player was hitting that triangle/Y button for the clearance kick. Really well implemented in Evo 2.

The spare man in the pocket for kick-ins is a godsend.

OK, to the negatives. The AI reverting to FIFA in the forward line. That BS needs to stop, it's quite ridiculous. And when the ball is in dispute on the ground, the AI going full psycho knocking players over left, right and centre also needs to be toned right down.

Fix those two issues and I think it will be a pretty good simulation of the real thing, warts and all.
