Whinging about it on here isn’t going to help
Let em know what a crap idea it is and this time next year we can be complaining about the next dumb idea they come up with

Anything to do with Zero Day?I don’t particularly care when the season starts or what the fixtures are but I can’t get my head around why it’s called round zero instead of round one.
You're reaching hard, this is a load of dribble.
You say supporters want to watch their team - well if that's the case then why are you bothered? Don't watch them, from that statement you don't watch other teams anyway regardless when they're scheduled. if there was no round 0 your team would be playing their first game next week regardless. Secondly, not everyone only cares about their team, as mentioned i'm happy to watch footy regardless who it is, not everyone has to share the same sentiment as you on that.
R0 teams don't get an additional bye, this has already been done to death - round 0 teams have played round 0 and non round 0 teams have not played in round 0. Not really that hard to compute. If you want to talk about the intricacies of when those breaks occur because some teams get them twice after a string of games, then you're reaching, the actual affect is barely worth a breath.
Marketing inequalities? - apparently everyone only watches their team so where is the marketing advantage. Look there may be an extended interest in the first game of the season, but I'm sorry beyond that it would be making absolutely 0 difference. Take next weeks Collingwood v port game on Saturday night as a random example - there would be absolutely 0 interest differential on that game (or any other for that matter) just because the first game of season was played the week before rather than that Thursday.

And how exactly do the fans of these clubs benefit form TV money? Where are these benefits you speak of?? Is there a way to deposit it into my account?Lol.
The only clubs that benefit in R0 are those playing R0.
Pretty simple concept.
Not difficult to understand.
Except for supporters of said R0 teams enjoying said benefits.
You can call that veiw every name under the sun but it's true.
As a supporter of a club that has to wait a week to start our season it feels like we are 2nd class AFL citizens.
You have no say into that as you support a club getting yet another leg up. On top of the others.
Why is the AFL doing this? TV $$$$$$$$$$.
That's not reaching. That is just the facts buddy.
Getting an extra bye is an obvious advantage, for startersAnd how exactly do the fans of these clubs benefit form TV money? Where are these benefits you speak of?? Is there a way to deposit it into my account?
If the AFL is actually managing to pull extra TV dollars out of this concept then good on them. How do you think the league stays afloat and feeds you the ability to watch a game of footy to begin with?
You are reaching, hard. Complaining for the sake of complaining because the drivel spewed up is a load of trivial crap.
Especially when they don't call it a lot of the time then rip one out randomly that generally gifts the opposition a goal at a crucial stageStand rule also,a disgrace.
They listen perfectly fine. Then just do the oppositeGotta love how the AFL LISTENS TO IT'S FANS.

Is there more media about the Roosters-Broncos game, in Melbourne, over O round? I think not.
How is it hard to just open with the grand final rematch every year. Unfurl the flag at home against the team you beat and they can try to knock you off your perch and ruin the day a little. You know flOpening Round is a flop when we'd rather another Carlton and Richmond snoozefest than whatever the hell QLD and NSW have managed to muster these past two years. Sad!
Makes way too much sense for the knobs at AFL house to consider. I agree, the losers stewing all Summer and then watching the flag unfurling would make the game electricHow is it hard to just open with the grand final rematch every year. Would create far more interest and hype than this shit.
Yeah.. bet you feel real stupid now don't you...
I don't think the round makes a difference there. Collingwood get the bonus marketing of being visible to 100% of the population regardless of whether this bullshit not-a-round exists or not.Collingwood and Sydney will play 2 matches before St kildas first game. and out of the 5 games i mentioned ours is the most likely to not be televised, meaning for the "unlucky" clubs we are waiting 2-3 weeks to see our team play while being bombarded with the same teams for 2 weeks. same thing happened last year.
Someone sounds bitter about the Purple Jellybeans losing to the Orange Revenge Vehicles in the great idea that was AFLX a few years back...The AFL are known to piggy back off of the concepts of other codes AND deliver subpar versions.

No, but when the whole idea is to "rob their house" so to speak (nice one Jimmy) then you'd expect a bit more buzz.Is there more media about the Roosters-Broncos game, in Melbourne, over O round? I think not.

I know Sydney is only now opening the season on a technicality...but living up here, you wouldn't have a clue anything was going on. It genuinely feels like we're still in pre-season mode.
Naturally, it's like that in regards to AFL up here 99% of the time...but to Philhawk's point, you'd expect SOMETHING when the whole point of this manufactured round is to build an intrigue and buzz in the northern states.

Living in Sydney as well and you wouldn’t have a bloody clue that the footy season was due to start.
If the idea is to grow the game here, they’ve absolutely bullsed it as expected.
Get rid of round zero
No one wants it and is just waiting for the real round 1
