Surely you are joking.

32 touches, 8 tackles last week and 26 touches, 13 tackles tonight.
Averaging 27 touches, 72% disposal efficiency and 460+ meters gained so far in his first 10 games of the year, if he has a big second half of the season, with the suns competing more with some good players coming back in then I can easily see him make the team for the 9th time! We all know the class he has.

And, beaten by Mitchell...

Stratton putting in another good shift. Think the medium defender is pretty stacked this year though so maybe a squad selection.

Which games has he been super in? He has a total of 3 coaches votes. 2 in round 6 and 1 in round 9.
You are too obsessed with coaches votes.

One player I think is sneaking up on a forward spot is Gunston. Might not have the stats of a few others but his impact in each game has been important. Carried the Hawks on his back at times.

In two of the 10 games he was rated 5th best player. I know it's not the be all and end all but if Bartel has been super surely he gets recognised by the Coaches.

I agree it can be used as a guide but coaches votes are the opinions of just two people. Pretend he was the 6th best every game this year v someone who was BOG for three games and rubbish for the rest. One would have 30 votes and the other none, even though they have been more consistent.

I would say Bartel is having a very good year considering the talks of retirement last year but probably wouldn't make a backup AA team at this stage.

Not sure i would be placing too much emphasis on the coaches awards.

His last 6 games have been great, and would be top 3 in the GFC BnF. A chance to make the 40 man squad at this stage.

Agree, he's making a pretty good charge at the moment. Would be close.

The problem with Gunston is he doesn't kick the shit out of ordinary sides. He always seems to perform best against good teams or when we are getting flogged, or finals. I don't know if the stats bear that out but it just feels a bit that way.
Would be nice to see him flat-track a couple of stragglers and put his name up in lights. He has had a really good season though, would not be surprised if he was leading the B&F right now.

12 goals out of 3 losses this year, 16 goals out of 8 wins

Actually his numbers are flat out incredible, especially when you factor in Franklin leaving Hawthorn a couple of years ago and how many people seemed to believe that Gunston getting the better defender will make it tough for him to have any impact and yet it hasn't seemed to bother him one bit at all and Roughead being out as well.

He's relishing playing on the oppositions best defenders. He'll likely win Hawthorn's best & fairest, kick over 60+ goals for the season and finally be selected in this years All-Australian team on the half forward flank after narrowly missing out the previous two seasons despite kicking 58 & 57 goals respectively.

He's still only 24 years old, already kicked 248 goals in his career and is currently sitting 4th in the Coleman medal race with 28 goals.

His last six weeks have been outstanding. He's taken more contested marks inside 50
then any other player during the last 5 games.

Round 6 vs Western Sydney: 15 disposals - 4 marks - 2 tackles - 5 goals - 86% disposal efficiency
Round 7 vs Richmond: 15 disposals - 9 marks (4 contested) - 4 tackles - 4 goals - 86% disposal efficiency
Round 8 vs Fremantle: 17 disposals - 6 marks (2 contested) - 1 tackle - 3 goals - 82% disposal efficiency
Round 9 vs Sydney: 18 disposals - 11 marks (4 contested) - 1 tackle - 4 goals - 86% disposal efficiency
Round 10 vs Brisbane: 24 disposals - 7 marks (4 contested) - 2 tackles - 2 goals - 70% disposal efficiency
Round 11 vs Melbourne: 15 disposals - 3 marks (1 contested) - 5 tackles - 3 goals - 80% disposal efficiency
