Posted this in the VAFA thread RE; Vic vs WA

Victoria has conducted over 493,000 tests for a positive rate of 0.3 WA has conducted 85,000 tests for a positive rate of 0.7

I honestly don’t think the majority of blokes even want to play.
I'm not sure about majority... I'd say there is a small minority who won't play, but most would play on and take reduced match fees etc... have heard of a few clubs where players have offered to play for free (although this was not in NFNL)

Lower level divisions would have no issue with players playing for free. Perhaps the 1st division clubs know there players wouldn’t hence the opposition to playing if conditions were suitable for local footy to return.

It makes the blokes who choose football or work on a Saturday’s choice different.

Edfl and vfl players opting to play for free, nfnl players should consider themselves lucky if they were even to get $50 a game this year if a salary cap is even permitting that. Time’s are going to change in football, this won’t just be a one year thing and guys are going to adjust a reassess their priorities if money is a driving factor for them playing the game.

Do country leagues have a points system?

Interesting to see if some leagues get up and running whilst others do not.

If a player leaves for one season to play footy if their league isn’t running. Would they still return as a homegrown player (1 point player)

Example: A homegrown, one club club NFNL Junior leaves and plays for a VAFA team for a year. They then return in 2021 to the NFNL club, are they still a one point player?

I don’t think they are going to allow a free reign of transfers between competitions. There will be some clauses if they even allow transfers at all.

yep, can play for as many clubs as they like, however, will always be one point at their home grown club - as long as played 40+ junior games

I’m not sure they can? If a player has signed a contract for the 2020 season and then the club is unable to meet that contract then it carries no merit.

It will be tough for clubs, no doubt. But if there’s games being played, players have every right to be a part of it. Because at the end of the day AFL Vic is pushing for games to get up and running. I find it unlikely they’ll reject players transfer requests if specific leagues go against it

Yeh very true. I think the issue is with the clubs taking these players. Most of these players going from one league to another will be 3/4/5 points and take a spot of someone who is already on the list. How are you going to explain to the players at your club that we are bringing 1,2,3 + players in for 9 games, so that will then push senior players out and reserves players missing all together. That’s a good way to ruin a club the year after if these players go back to there original club.

Yep very true. But if you’re a coach of a club at the end of the day it’s premierships that matter.

What it will do is put some pressure in the blokes who are slack trainers to get fair dinkum and or pay there subs early. Good problem to have.
Looks like AFL VIC has lobbied the government for a roadmap to play by the end of this week with a potential return to contact training by June 29 and a start date of July 11.

I saw this. NFNL aren’t even allowed to train in groups of 10 yet. Thank god a decision will be made Friday and announced the following Tuesday. This can’t drag on any further

all metro comp have announced return to train protocols in line with AFL Vic. NFL training still suspended. Not a good sign!
NFNL meeting this Friday, I’m not sure about the rest of them, if they are involved or not.
I’m not sure what all the ticks are for, but it’s not seasons going ahead that’s for sure and a lot of clubs from those comps want it off .

I presume if the NFNL are making a decision this Friday then AFL VIC will have either given them the green light or said no go. So wouldn’t that be the case for all leagues?
