I think there is a decent chance you are right it did seem all a bit convenient, I just find it funny the amount of effort you have gone to.
slooooow day...at first it was just a fleeting thought...naahh, alpha male staging? naaaaaaaaaaaah, then i got the torrent and voila...you'd imagine the editors asking for the POV footage so they can cut a more dramatic scene ?

Take 2 big rugged handsome hunter !!!

Enjoyable show. I'd never heard of it before the Australian version. I grew up in Tassie and have seen/experienced this ruggedness, it's nice to have something that jogs the memory without ever having to go back and freeze your ass off/be wet all the time/spend half your day battling leeches.

Interesting that the closest thing to a fishing net is the bag?

I never fished that far down the west coast when I lived there, but most of Tassie you have to kick the whitebait out of the way to catch the real fish. If you had a way to catch them it would be the easiest way to catch food, I think it'd be a surer bet than line and hooks.

The ex-Army guy started making his own net last week, using the paracord he brought as one of his 10 items.

This is a familiar strategy from the US version.

They mention that they have to keep an eye on their lines incase a platypus gets caught and they need to release it, so perhaps a net was considered too dangerous.

Botherer is very annoying but good to see it feel more like they have an idea.

Gina's story was terrible can't imagine how you come back from that. I'm all aboard team Gina now.

Gina seems to have a decent skill set, a good attitude and isn't too full of confidence, so far she's the one I'd most like to see win.

Usually the ones' most over confident in their skills struggle at the first signs of failure and adversity.

As an aside, the ex-Army guy really probably shouldn't have been cast and put in to that setting, he seems to be really coming apart mentally.

It's getting better, but still laughable compared to the US/Canadian version.

We are watching S7 online at SBS as well now, contestants there are building log cabins with stone fire places & furniture, hunting bears with bows & one crazy guy shot a musk ox then finished it of with his knife.
No diversity charity picks in sight either.

There's not the need to build too complex shelter in the tassie one. Don't have to protect from snow and animals and not as cold. Basically just need wind protection and a roof.
