Just a different take on our list (I pinched the idea from the Carlton board)-
For a proper list analysis, you have to categorize each player as:
a) AFL Star
b) proven AFL player
c) inconsistent at AFL level but shown glimpses
d) hasn't shown anything yet
I have given each player a thumbs up or thumbs down (^). Thumbs up for players who I believe who haven't reached their full potential and can move to a 'higher' level (doesn't necessarily mean they will of course). Thumbs down for players who have reached their peak and either due to age (Hird, Camporeale), or limitations in their game (Welsh, Peverill, Heffernan), are already on the decline. Our other 'older' players like Fletcher, Michael, Lloyd, Lucas and the Johnsons will join them in the next year or two but for the moment at least are all capable of maintaining their ranking so I have left blank. Players who I believe have already reached their highest rank- ie. fulfilled their potential (eg. JJ, McVeigh, Lovett Murray), but probably won't get to the next level, I have also left blank (doesn't mean I think they can't improve, just that in my opinion, they probably won't imprve enough to go to that next level). Likewise new draftees and others who I haven't seen enough to give a ranking.
Hope all that is not too confusing.
Thus our list (based on where I think they'll predominately play next year):

The bad news is our list is stacked with C and D grade players, reflecting the youth of our list. The good news is that most of those players have time on their side and have the potential to move up in the rankings. There are many more players in our list capable of going up, rather than down, which can only be a good thing. Top sides would have a large core of A and B grade players. Fast forward 2-3 years, and hopefully we will too.
Go Bombers!
