Returning from the Caribbean after belting the living daylights out of a depleted West Indies team, the Aussie girls take on hosting duties of Sri Lanka with the first T20I getting underway in about an hour from now.

If we get lucky and see a contest in any of the matches, it will most likely be due to some spellbinding Sri Lankan performances with the ball. Even so, it will probably get ugly if Chamari Atapattu doesn’t have a huge tour with the bat. Regardless, I hope we see a few young gems announce themselves in style, similar to what the Windies were able to do.

If we miss out on witnessing anything like a gripping contest, I'm still always glad to get the chance to watch and talk about women’s cricket with the assistance of a camera at both ends!

And of course, this will be the biggest summer of women's cricket down-under EVER with the first standalone WBBL just around the corner, followed by the T20 World Cup in Feb-March next year. So a nice chance here to re/acquaint yourself with these players before all that kicks off, especially if you (literally) slept through the Ashes whomping a couple months ago.

Keeper with a couple good takes, ground fielding been solid, just need to take their chances if/when any come and they keep themselves in it cos it's hard to tell just how flat the pitch is (and as I type this, Ranasinge holds on to an easy one).

Also very happy the Sri Lankan band knows my favourite song: Blaring Trumpet, Erratic Drum

From memory they played a bilateral series in Sri Lanka a couple years ago but I think this is the first one on Australian soil.
