Boxing IS punching people...

I know it's not about any clubs, I just pointed out another player that Barry had decked when playing. Look back through my posts and tell me where I was trolling.

A former footballer, known to have boxing skills, and with a chequered career, who's been moved on by two clubs partly due to onfield issues with discipline, starts a boxing career and it's trolling to ask questions about whether he can cut it against real opponents?

The only trolling is being done by posters talking aboiut girlfriend bashing and glassing.
Thats not trolling thats FACT

I saw that how did he ever make 115lbs ?

Must have been about 12.
I just started reading his 'auto'biography and this is what it said:

He started boxing when he was about 12. That's all he did for a few years (he didn't play much junior footy). He gave it up because he didn't really love it and was only doing it to make his Dad happy.

Considering football players aren't "opponents" then yes, that's thinly veiled trolling. His boxing career has nothing to do with the way he was niggled on the field every game.

Be good to see this thug get knocked out but in reality he will probably only fight washed up hacks.

Surprise surprise, another North supporter chimes in.

Perhaps he can do a Daniel Pratt and Michael Firrito and try to punch his opponents as they leave the ring. Hall wasn't even looking when Pratt went the cheap shot.

Don't understand the North fan comments...particularly when a former late president of the club was an icon in the very sport Barry is about to return to involvement in (I speak of the late Ron Casey).

Oh no- I do know about Sam McFarlane. He gets brought up a lot.

But he returned to playing. It was just convenient of him to blame Hall and the mental scars when he didn't make it.

Hall should have put their teeth through the back of their heads the dirty coward rats they are hiding behind the fact he was under so much scrutiny. Trying to look tough the piss weak scumbags they are.

His tribunal record is a fact too, but we musn't talk about that, it might be trolling

Rubbish, the whole reason there is any interest in Hall, is the Big Bad Baz thing and where did that come from?

Wasn't looking? just like Big Blamesless Barry's victims weren't looking?

Why was he under the scrutiny? oh those pesky niggling backmen, they should all be knocked out!

Im not trying to justify his actions in the past, just stating the actions of the piss weak North players in that clip. If you look really closely, you can see the blood drain from the north players face when Hall launched at him. Pity the clip doesnt show the runner rush out with clean shorts for him.

Yeah, ok  so I'm accused of trolling by asking how he'll go against proper boxing opponents, yet you dish out this drivel.:thumbsu:

I dont even know who Sam McFarlane is tbh.

He's already been in this thread. JamieJohnstone wrote a blog about him after the Hall vs Thompson incident too. It's a favourite among your fellows.

Basically McFarlane was a North ressies player who Hall hit, pretty hard. He came back but in the end didn't cut it. Whether that was because of the damage Hall did to him affecting his psyche is unknown, but it makes for a good excuse.

Lol @ all the north players giving Hall a bit when he's trying to get off the ground. If it was one on one none of them players would have the guts to do it.

Thompson was well within his right to annoy the shit out of him but bumping him over while tying his shoes up goes over the line and as you could tell by the video Hall thought so too.

Back on topic, give Hall some credit for wanting this to be legit and not a joke. He doesn't want to verse Sonny Bill or other sports stars unless they are just as serious. He wants legit boxers and will put in the hard yards to do it. All the best mate:thumbsu:

He didn't just hit him. He shattered McFarlanes jaw in a behind the play incident in a reserves game in 1997. McFarlane still has three steel plates in his jaw.

Can anyone spot the difference between these pictures and actual hand to hand combat with a prepared opponent?

Would be interested to see how many of the North supporters having a go at Hall actually saw the McFarlane hit...

Hi boys an girls

I truly wish Big Bad Barry the best in his upcoming fights. The guy can punch. As has been suggested in an earlier comments, Barry will be a legend in his own success. Good on him to. You can only fight who is put in front of you.

As for good boxers i am unsure. I am sure any decent fighter would pants him at the moment. Please tell me if i am wrong.

For all the MMA haters; please keep your boxing prowess out of mma judgement. It has been proven time and again it is a different sport so please be mindful. Any great boxer ceases to be that when he cant stand the way he chooses in a fight.

A take down threat changes a boxers stance. Point me towards a boxing attacking or defending style that can stop a GSP from gaining top position? When you find it, tell the other welter weights in the division, you're analysis would be petty helpful.

Yep, an absolutely cowardly and dog act that would see jail time if it wasn't on the football field. The man is just a thug with anger and violence issues :thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

#1 - bad
#2 - kinda bad
#3 - Wakelin admitted he dived
#4 - Awww, did the mean old Barry pull Roughead down? :(
Also convenient angle in the Sam Mitchell shot, he was directly in front of Barry when he stuck his forearm out.

To answer your question, there is no hand to hand combat in football. Barring your rare cases these days with fist fights, which I haven't seen for many years, just jumper punches.
Barry has competed in Boxing before, he knows what to do.
