Bartel has no leadership skills, he's a conservitave bloke who just goes about his business. And does so very well.

Also mitchell hasnt won all-australian. which in itself is an injustice and probably is the best AFL player to be without the honour.

2006 - Runner-up Best & Fairest
2005 - most courageous player in the league nomination
2004 - most brownlow votes for Geelong
2002 - rising star nomination (first year at the club)

To be honest, Egan isn't really any better than LRT. Both good serviceable backmen. May have got the AA nod last year but there weren't any real CHB standouts, Egan included. To say they aren't in the same league is ridiculous.

To be honest, Egan isn't really any better than LRT. Both good serviceable backmen. May have got the AA nod last year but there weren't any real CHB standouts, Egan included. To say they aren't in the same league is ridiculous.

lol you obviously dont watch geelong play much if you think that egan is just serviceable, plays most often on the opposition best forward over scarlett(that says something), has brilliant hands and his abilty to turn and set up play is brillant.Would be in the top 5 kp defenders in the game

Jimmy had a better 07 than Mitchell. No doubt in my mind. But both are very good players that serve the need their club has.

Meanwhile, I still think Bartel stole the Brownlow from Ablett though, who is clearly a better player. He does everything Bartel does, and adds some genius creativity to go with it.

You need to be restricted to bay 13.
You could ask who Jonathan Brown's toughest opponent was in his his last 2 years of football. and I reckon Matthew Egan would be up there.
It's easy to bag a champion All-Australian defender like Egan, when you don't even have a decent KP backman yourself... Please don't say Croad 'cause he never had the CHF's playing against him when he got AA like Brown, Riewoldt, Pavlich & Lucas etc, That Matthew Egan beat in the 1 season.

I rate Mitchell as a better player than Bartel, but that's just me.

Im sure lots of other people would rate Bartel higher though just because he won a brownlow (even know Gablett or Boomer should have won it).

And was their players like Nick Riewoldt, Luke Hodge, Chirs Judd etc in Mitchells rising star year?
3 of the top 10 players in the league (plus Bartell, whod be pretty effing close, if not there already) in the same rising star year.

And...brownlow > Rising star.

no its not at all, but its a factor.Bartel did win the brownlow because the umpires beleived he was the best player in 07.there are always exceptions to everything and when it comes to brownlows wowoden is the exception.Buckelt and wowoden are not in the same league.

I will repeat winning a brownlow and a premiership maedalion is not the be all and end all,but it is a factor.I have no doubt that palyers deserved to be rated higher because they have won footys ultimate individual prize and been a part of footys ulitmate team prize.
