Attended a lunch today at The Australian Club (I know, I know....terrible place).
Anyway....sat nearby Mark Korda. 3 things he was happy to disclose:
1. Collingwood will not be hiring Clarkson. Apparently 'they can't afford him'. (Not sure what that means...)
2. Sayers 'has been badgering Clarkson for months now'. Blues are still in his ear but Clarkson remains uncommitted.
3. No love lost between Korda and Eddie. He knows Eddie is trying to depose him and is right in Jeff Browne's corner.
Happy to post this here as it isn't coming from inside the club.
It is the 'belief' from a former multiple premiership star Hawk that Clarkson will be coaching Carlton next year.
Clarkson is apparently filthy with the Hawks and Carlton are right into him.
He was also of the belief he may not even see out the year with the Hawks.
As I mentioned this is not coming from anyone on Carlton's end and is a prominent Hawks belief of what will happen.
The disconnect between the Senior Coach and the Director of High Performance is a key factor in player management apparently.
The lack of tactical nous from the Senior Coach became clear to someone key on our board in preseason.
There are onsiders who play as stabilisers in the team. Senior players are coaching on the field- able to because of an absence of strong system or proper scouting of opposition coaching plans.
Pyke, Leppitsch, Scott, Lyon
one of the above (at least) will be coaching Carlton next year.
Not just my opinion, no.
A prediction based on what I have been told.
#BluemourI really can’t say who, but I absolutely promise it’s based on two different but very reliable sources.
#BluemourClarkson will give the club an answer in next few days.
Re: Jack Silvagni
Bullshit rumors. Club has a pending agreement with him in place. Likewise a few of our other OOC players (e.g. Kemp).
Club was/is waiting on:
Essentially, there is a soft lock put on formalising new contracts now that we had the most pressing high priority needs sorted (Cripps, McKay).
- Findings of the review (consider findings)
- Confirmation of head coach in 2022 (take into consideration his opinion)
- Confirmatio of football department (consider their opinion)
Other big things could happen this week.
3 candidates have voluntarily pulled out.
They are now interviewing 4th and 5th rung candidates. Graham now the front runner.
One of the candidates will sign at Carlton as an assistant to Ross Lyon and reportedly told his manager never to communicate with Collingwood again, the interview went that bad.
Its a circus with their current board and no recruiting manager.
