Yeah, it is a pretty garbage gun when you start to get close. I have been overrun by mobs a couple of times because I wasn't quick enough switching to something with a better fire/reload rate as they started to close in.

Yeah i really love sniper rifles in this game. Definitely ended up my weapon of choice, along with pistols. Always thought pistols were underpowered, but if you get nice ones with Elemental Damage, they really worth it in any loadout. IMO.

I found having a high damage/high fire-rate pistol combined with the Sheriff's badge the most effective set up in the game.

I tossed it - couldn't be bothered without the sights and IIRC the negative stat was really shit.

I haven't used it much yet but I have to admit I was a bit bummed out when I saw it had no scope. What do you mean by "negative stat"?

I love snipering as well but it really shits me in this game that no matter how far away you are as soon as you fire a shot all enemies immediately know your exact position.. actually I think I may have said this before.

Not sure how other people use their weapon slots but I generally carry a sniper rifle (interchangeable with rocket launcher), pistol, assault rifle and smg (interchangeable with shotgun).. so pretty much an even spread to *hopefully* account for any situation without having to pause. :D Does anyone use multiples of the same weapon types and/or use specific slots for specific weapon types?

What's the Sherriff's badge? :P

I'm only lvl 34 so none of my weapons will match any of the ones you lot are posting up. Think i got a rare Assault Rifle after beating The Warrior, was a Veruc? Had a damage only 660x4 i think :P

With Zer0 I usually carry two sniper rifles (one elemental depending on the area's enemies, one just generally high-damage), the Law pistol (with Order shield for melee) and a shotgun (for stuff like rakk).

Yes, sometimes i would carry 2 sniper rifles. One had elemental Shock damange and the other Corrosive. Only for when there were enemies with armour around i'd use the Shock one. Would normally have around 4 snipers all up in my backpack though to go with the 5 or so pistols. :D Generally carried a Pistol, Shotgun, Sniper and Assault Rifle (preferred the ones that are grenade launcher types with very little delay) in my loadout. Are the SMG's any good?

Haven't heard of the Law pistol or the Sheriff's badge..

The Law pistol you get in Sanctuary by completing the sidequest where you identify the murderer. It has +100% melee damage, and when combined with the Order shield it restores health with melee attacks. If you have Zer0 specced as a melee fighter it makes you pretty much invincible.

The Sheriff's Badge is an occasional drop from (I think) the Sheriff of Lynchwood. I have never got it though.

The red text in the description of a blue rarity item is generally a negative stat - I'm not certain what this one was but I didn't like it at the time...

That's why I need the scope too, to use it more than one shot from a distance.

I have multiple pistols and SMGs with different elements that I change for the enemy I'm fighting. I use slag transfusion grenades for the additional damage benefits.

You get it when you kill the sheriff in Lynchwood. It gives a ridiculous bump on pistols fire-rate, reload and damage and Fight for Your Life mode IIRC.

Yeah I've spent too much time playing evidently.

Are the SMG's any good?

I prefer them over the assault rifles, especially the elemental ones.

Might have to look out for a decent SMG then. But their damage seems kind of underwhelming compared to the assault rifles which to me, are similar kind of weapons.

But they fire a shitload faster and are more accurate. Based on the maths I think the SMG comes out on top.

You're right actually. Overlooked that. :D The only SMG i had was this weird one that you can only run at a snail pace with and would scream "Switching weapon" and "Reloading" at times. The accuracy on that one was horrific though to begin with and eventually got better the longer you fired it for.

So when it says "Hated by large numbers of people".. ?

Ha. I'm the same except ^sniper/launcher and >assault rifle/shotgun.

I don't really use slag at all except when the turret is equipped with it.

I must be really unlucky then because I've shot the Sheriff (and many deputies) multiple times and haven't seen it.. maybe I just missed it.

Like any weapon, if can find a good one then you're set. I seemed to find more good SMGs than assault rifles in my games.

So when it says "Hated by large numbers of people".. ?

Correct.

It refers to to some sort of special characteristic for the weapon.

I don't really use slag at all except when the turret is equipped with it.

I only started using it on True Vault Hunter and Ultimate Vault Hunter modes. It is awesome for taking down harder enemies, but I wouldn't waste a gun on it, that's why I use it with a transfusion grenade

I've got it 4 or 5 times now - but have got very few Legendary weapons. Like you said it all depends on luck.

There's no real hidden negative stat on the elephant gun. It's just the lack of scope, high recoil, low fire rate and slow reload time that makes it 'hated'.

Basically, it's one of the most powerful and accurate snipers in the game. You just have to get really good at using the iron sights, because to be effective you need to use it at long range and get a lot of one shot kills.

I' m a big fan of assault rifles but it can be tricky finding one with top stats. Usually I like to roll with a 1 Shotgun, 1 Assault Rifle, 1 Sniper, and 1 Rocket Launcher. If I know there will be a heap of in-close enemies then I strap on another shotgun. Not a huge fan of SMGs but recently found a corrosive damage one that I have really grown fond of.

On that note, what are peoples' favourite elememt in the game?

Also doesn anyone know if Gearbox still gives out Golden Keys? I have a couple of Golden Chests that are just screaming to be opened but I havn't got any keys.

I see.

Yeah that's enough for me to not want to use it - I like Borderlands because the attacking caters to my sloppy playing style.

Fire is the most fun, I reckon. I have a Volcano sniper that absolutely devastates any flesh enemies. Corrosive is bloody useful though, particularly with all the armoured enemies in this game.

I don't tend to use electric much, although a rapid-fire electric pistol is useful for quickly hammering down bosses with big shields before hitting them with something else. Explosive is relatively shit. Slag I can never be bothered with.

Gearbox releases them sporadically on their Twitter. Currently they are doing one a day to coincide with the latest DLC - it finishes on Sunday.

I like using them purely what they're designed for:

Corrosive - armor
Electric - shields
Fire - bandits
Slag - increased damage

I find the corrosive the most fun though. I like melting people.

The level 50 Dahlminator is awesome from a distance.

Gearbox is currently releasing a new SHiFT code every day on their Twitter - it finishes on Sunday.

I was given a code. Mis-used them i think. When is it best to use them? I completed a quest, used one. Completed the next quest and used another. In 3 of them i got class mods in which a majority were for different characters to the one i was using. In another i got a rocket launcher that was worse than the one i already had. Only place to use them is on the chest in Sanctuary, right?
