"Brandan is currently contracted to play for Geelong and that won’t be changing. Any other discussion around him being at another AFL club in 2021 and beyond is nothing more than speculation and rumour," Lawrence said.

He's signed a short extension because he knows in two years times there is a lot more cap freed up and he's backing himself in to improve and get his pay day. He also doesn't want to go anywhere.

I'd say it's the smartest play for him at the moment, he gets to have his cake and potentially eat it too.
