198cm Victorian key forward 25 years old with 94 games played

Port seem to have signed up a few lately but not this guy. They have georgiades and Ollie lord signed up for a few years so is Marshall expandable/will he come home

Restricted free agent so they can match offers

Feel like the cap must be getting a bit tight.

Massive signings of Butters, Rozee and JHF in the last 12 months. Plus bringing in Ratugolea on a chunky wage. Resigned guys like Drew and Houston on long deals 18 months ago too. Wines still has 2 years on his big deal signed in 2020.

Maybe he's gettable?

Doubt he leaves. He's their #1 forward. That being said I hope the dons offer him a big contract to lure him away.

Also he's a New South Welshman (from Deniliquin), not Victorian. Just played Bushrangers because that's when the AFL took the Riverina away from GWS.

Yeah would assume there will be much bigger offers than what he’d receive if he stayed but if port do well next year then that might trump money

Unless the Riverina get an AFL team I doubt he'll be returning 'home'.

He might be their next sacraficial lamb to get back into the draft in a meaningful way. Say he goes as a fa and nets band 1 compo possibly, it might be enough to jag one of the better players in the draft chock full of high end mids.

Their top 3 mids are quality but after that it drops so getting another possibly A grade mid at the expense of a KPF who looks ok but may never really hit the heights might be a play for them

I really like Marshall and hope we keep him. But I could see this happening.

I can't see Port letting him go as a free agent to get back in the draft,
they'll probably make the eight again, so the pick won't be like what North got for McKay.

Key forwards who convert their chances are really valuable, so Port would/should be really keen to get him re-signed

One of Ken's faves, so can't see him leaving.

Would love the Hawks to have a real crack at him though. Perfect partner for Lewis.

Band 1 for Marshall?

Port are not North and band 1 for this bloke would be ridiculous. AFL will now adjust the salary scales so it wont happen

Port would only let him walk if his contract offer fell into ‘band 1’.
It would be band 1 imo as his age and profile would fit a number of contending sides and they will pay to get a guy like him.

Imo, if port could get band 1 and its a mid 1st and it meant being able to secure another quality mid, it would be worth it

Id pay him 5/5 mill if im a club like Richmond. Perfect target for them and they are going to have so much free salary cap room in next few years. Better to get started now

If McKau got 800k then Marshall is getting more, Better footballer for sure

Are they? Won't the back-ended Lynch and Martin deals just be replaced by back ended Taranto, Hopper and Bolton deals?
