Even if that was correct (which isn't) circumstances are completely different now. Can't see how a no-deal is a win (infact it's a massive loss). Any SME management can tell you that
Well duh. But that's not what the Brexiters have been claiming all along.

dont you know, the EU needs them more than air, so sooner or later the EU will buckle and give the UK open access to their market while allowing them to keep the walls up on theirs.

any day now...

its still gunna happen...

soon...

So, Ian Duncan-Smith is aghast that the fine print of the Withdrawal Agreement requires that the UK contribute to the 2020 EU budget, even for things like loans offered to cover COVID. Of course, this is the same guy who spoke on how everything that was needed to be had been debated on the WA, and voted for Parliament not to scrutinise it....

He makes a very good point about people who are so stupid that they not only don't realise how stupid they are, they actually think they're clever.

Normally you can just shake your head in mild despair, physically or mentally corral them, and concentrate on the real world.

But it's different when they're the UK PM, or POTUS.

O'Brien is a joke. He is continously wrong about most issues and then abusive to those who point it out. His latest efforts re face masks were a new low for him.

What's his current Twitter? Last I heard idiot son was incoming in France
Been and gone , numerous shenanigans whilst abroad.

RS last few days have consisted of outing " nationalists " abusing him in his pm's to their bosses lol

Didnt age well given PHE lies and ONS admitting 30% were non covid related. BBC etc naturally neglect to mention. Putrid but hardly unexpected.

Between 7 March and 1 May 2020, a total of 130,009 deaths were registered across England and Wales; this represents an excess of 46,380 death registrations compared to the five-year average, and 12,900 of these deaths (27.8%) did not involve the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Yeah guess it was just bad luck in the UK. Nothing to do with any policies or anything.

So, 70 per cent of nearly 50,000 excess deaths did involve the coronavirus?

If you noticed on the worlmeters page they did revise the total deaths to just above 40,000 from 47,000 a couple of weeks ago. That's the official figure. That's far too high considering UK had a months headstart over Italy/Spain/Belgium

Its all BS. Locking down early would have had no effect. Its easily proven that locking down when they did had no effect. High population density and large ethnic populations who are far more likely to die are the big factors (never mentioned re Sweden either) Media of course wont tell you that for fear of being called racist and because most hate Boris (even the Times has been a joke). Thats even before considering how countries actually account (or not) for deaths.

Even the Lancet had to admit lockdowns save no lives.

NB Spain lockdown date was 14 March
Uk was on 23rd.

Hardly a month.

You can argue over Brexit but no sane person can argue that lockdowns are beneficial. Boris the useless muppet fell for obvious nonsense from the the modeller who may as well be an astrologist at ICL.

no, less than that. Involve not caused. Quite the difference.

Lockdown killed plenty, numerous lives were lost by the elderly being thrown out of hospital in to care homes and taking the virus with them.

The biggest killer in the UK has been moron public servants, a joke of a health system and spineless Tories to weak to stand up to them.

Not talking about lockdows, the disaster with the PPE's, people allowed to go in and out the country without checks, the care home disaster etc etc, why build a massive Nightangle hospital using taxpayers money and not use it? it was almost empty the whole time

Statement of fact.

We’ve been asked by readers whether it was government policy on 19 March to send hospital patients back into care homes, without making it mandatory for them to be tested for Covid-19.

This is correct. There was no requirement to test all patients being discharged from hospital into a care home until 15 April 2020, though some trusts were testing patients before that date.

More than 25,000 patients were discharged to care homes by NHS hospitals in the pivotal 30 days before ministers introduced routine coronavirus testing.

Yet countries like Spain and Italy implemented lockdown perfectly well and their numbers were almost zero up until recently. After the initial wave in Italy they locked down really hard and the Italian numbers been in single digits ever since. It got nothing to do with lockdown, just poorly implemented policies just like the US. The whole care home also hit Sweden and Belgium really hard (they have the most number of people in care homes per capita). UK should have taken lessons from Italy and Belgium , but didn't.

There was zero reason to lock down the economy. All they had to do was protect nursing homes and made sure that people didnt spread the virus within hospitals.

Policies matter stuff all, all they do is ruin the economy ( as per Lancet and other studies) The evidence is overwhelming. Having said that the UK and in particular the NHS and PHE made some horrendous mistakes

a) transferring people from hospitals to nursing homes.
b) not allowing private labs to get involved in testings
c) dramatically cutting tube and train services thus packing in passengers like sardines
d) shutting schools which was utter stupidity.

The argument that earlier lockdown would have saved lives is an easily disprovable lie. The peak had already occurred pre lockdown. In any even the LAST SAGE meeting pre lockdown did NOT advise they enter lockdown

The govts biggest error by a mile was listening to the utterly useless "expert" from ICL and his quack model.

NB infections are rising in Spain and Italy.

Because the morons panicked based on the ridiculous ICL model. Unfortunately the media was preaching armageddon and there were (and are) plenty of gullible muppets who are scared to leave their home.

Just look at this board, Captain Thumb Sucker is still shivering in fear.

But during the spike there were 10,000 infections a day, you wouldn't think the fear is justified? what about those with diabetes and hypertension?
