Brian Cook- Carlton to win at least one flag next 5 years

Cowlten won't win a premiership for a good while yet. It's been 30 years already. They were a force in the 90's but their time has passed.

30% probability of the drought extending to 50 years and beyond, and that is based on the assumption that all teams have a similarly equal chance of winning a flag each year for the next 20 years (and we know Carlton are less likely over the foreseeable future).

Blues used to have so much class and talent. Now they're a shadow of their former selves.

At least they're in the AFL it could be worse. Imagine being Williamstown or Sandringham.
They haven't got what it takes to be a true contender for quite some time. They need a complete rebuild as I said. From the players houses, cars, lap tops, clothes and cutlery. They need a complete over haul and change of everything. Even their jewellery.

Were you saying the same about Richmond at this stage of 2016? Most people said they needed to rebuild but Hardwick made a few tweaks and we saw what happened after that so there is hope for Carlton if they make some tweaks and the cards fall their way.

Voss is no Hardwick

No. But we've heard this shit for 25 years now for no results and you're weaker again now. Carlton aren't winning shit in the near future
Despite the fact Carlton are well under the odds at $41 for the flag, I'll happily enter every season with Carlton at those odds knowing that 7 to 8 teams enter the season at those odds or longer to win the flag, and one if those teams win the flag only once every 12 to 15 years.

Voss is no Hardwick
You're right as Voss is a premiership captain and I remember Mark Thompson being in a similar boat in 2006 he's also a premiership captain.
LOL

Very very long straw
carlton wont even make finals

whats the odds on that
No one gave Richmond a chance at all it's the hindsight heroes who say they were always destined for greatness. Even during the 2017 season when Richmond finished top 4 people labelled them pretenders because of their 0-3 record against the top 4 in the home and away.

Voss was a great player and a captain but he is not a great coach or even a good coach tbh
the sooner Carlton get rid of him the better they will be .

Over 2 clubs and both clubs he has failed
4 years now at Carlton and a list ready to explode with Curnow , Cripps , Walsh , Wietering , MacKay , Cerra etc and missed finals. He will be sacked in 2 years time and that will be the end of Voss coaching career

He's only contracted through to the end of 2026.

What does he need to do to see 2026 out? I suspect be in the run for finals for most of the year.

Does he keep his job if they finish top 10?
I think they will give him a 1 year extension to get rid of the noise ( clubs do that to take focuss off )
They will give him 2026 to get some stability and some type of game style together with the new players after the exodus
and see out the year then 2027 will be his make or break year with not only finals but deep finals expected
no top 4 is 27 and he is goneski

I think your scenario is highly unlikely.

When do clubs ever give a 1 year extension to relatively young coaches?

I think that unless he is entrenched comfortably on the top 8 for most of the year and they play finals, which is highly unlikely, he is gone at the end of his current contract, if not before.

Awesome. Lets reconvene next October for another episode of the worlds shittest Groundhog Day
That's every time I see the regular trolls forgetting where the banter thread is. Back you go.

They will follow what the crows have done with Nicks this year but thats just my opinion but hey who knows Wright might just say this bloke is a dud and get rid of him

This is the problem with the uneven draw. Richmond played the 2 of the other 3 top-4 teams only once in the regular season - and at the opposition home ground. Lost to Geelong by 2 goals, and Adelaide towelled them up. The played GWS home and away for a 1-1 record.

When they played Geelong and Adelaide at their home ground in the finals - thrashed them both.

Stupid, stupid, stupid AFL 'fixture' with random double-ups.
