Fremantle not really travelling that well, when you note that they have lost to Sydney, Melbourne and St Kilda.
Rubbish. They've won 9 of their last 10 and the dees and saints losses were very early on in the year. During their winning run they've beaten GWS, Gold Coast and Collingwood all away.

They've been very good. A couple close wins but so what. Everyone has them.

Have they beaten anyone in the top 8 away yet? Not a dig at the Crows but that top 2 spot is going to be all too important for their chances.

They play the ground magnificently. Perfect spacing between the three bigs on a narrow ground is good coaching.
Have a look at the games we have lost away to top teams.
We lost to the Suns on the GC by 1 point and should have won the game had it not been for an umpiring error as admitted by the AFL.

We lost to Freo in Perth by 18 points.

We lost to Collingwood by 10 points at the MCG.

We lost to Hawthorn in Tassie by 3 points.

We havent been blown away by any top team away from home, and have played good football in all of them.

I guess if we beat the Pies at AO in a couple of weeks it won't mean anything either?

Lol. Love the past players and especially the obscure ones.

You’re classic how you pull out 25 years ago players, many of whom no non-crows supporters would have heard of. 😂

I mean that's just confirming my point.

We haven't disgraced ourselves either in any of our away games against the top 9 so far. Leading all three games at 3qtr time and losing out by less than 3 goals in all three games.

I can't remember too many teams in the top 9 who have been blown away from their home deck outside of GWS against the Dogs on Thursday and maybe the Pies who had their pants pulled down by the Giants in R1.

The top 9 is so evenly placed that the home ground advantage might be the difference between making a grand final and a straight set exit.

Hawthorn has only played three interstate away games against top 9 teams, against Gold Coast, Fremantle and Adelaide. They lost all three. They also lost away to Port Adelaide. The only interstate team they have beaten away is Sydney.

Yeh I'm aware of that and I said as much in my post.

Outside of a few outliers most of the games against the top 9 teams have been generally close.

A home final has never been as important.

I don't think I have said Hawthorn have been blown away either?
On Friday night it was a tight game of give and take, the difference being that we had players like Rankine, Thilthorpe, Dawson and Tex who are the cream of the crop talent wise and can do things others cant.
Its no surprise its those players who came to the top during the game when needed.

If the players channel their inner Peter Vardy they can go all the way

The answer is yes. They will get two home finals and their best is as good as there is.

Also getting hot at the right time.

Crows are going to be right there.

Its interesting because I think Brisbane has the higher ceiling and lower floor than Adelaide, who are more consistent.

They also have finals experience. I think Adelaide can go all the way, but I half expect them to fall down in a prelim. For Brisbane it's about attitude: i feel in their beltings they've been pretty complacent and lazy. If they're on from here on they are still favourites, but if Adelaide can handle the big moments they are.

As a Crows supporter I agree.
I think Brisbane being in the last two grand finals gives them an edge with experience and confidence.

The Crows lack that, which could well prove the difference.
But you never know, if the Crows do play at their potential they could well win it.
If the Crows play at the best and Brisbane play at their best, I dont see anything between them.

Yeah besides being a totally new matchup (which most want to see), a Brisbane Adelaide grand final will have plenty of storylines and intrigue. They've played in many close contests, have some similar and some different strengths, two non Vic sides again, back to back vs a 27 year drought.

Would give the edge to Brisbane as they should have won at AO, but Crows are better now.

Look, I'm not really trying to defend my team or suggest we're going to go all the way, but can't you use this criticism for any team?

Of course. But this thread is about Adelaide's credentials. Looking at the current top 8 there are 4 teams with plenty of finals experience and then Freo, Hawthorn, Adelaide and Gold Coast. IMO it's still Brisbane or Collingwood's to lose.

I'm just happy Adelaide beat the Hawks so they will only take it out on my team this week by winning by 100 rather than 250.

Yes as long as they avoid Collingwood in a prelim at the MCG.
90,000 Pies fans overwhelmed GWS in the last quarter of the 2023 prelim.
