There’s nothing to continue, everyone knows that the Port Adelaide Football club from the SANFL applied and joined the AFL.
It’s not complicated. Did you just miss that part of history? If it wasn’t the Port Adelaide football club then who joined the AFL? And tell me how the exact same management team ends up leading this brand new club you believe joined the AFL.
Only Victorians could believe it was a made up new club.

port power, established 1997

Port Adelaide Football Club is a professional Australian rules football club based in Alberton, South Australia. The club's senior men's team plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), where it is nicknamed the Power, while its reserves men's team competes in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), where it is nicknamed the Magpies. Since its founding, the club has won an unequalled 36 SANFL premierships and four Championship of Australiatitles, in addition to an AFL Premiership in 2004. It has fielded a women's team in the AFL Women's(AFLW) competition since 2022 (S7).

Like I said, their history was transplanted after the establishing of Port Power in 1997. It's not the same team, but they now say it is.

It's not a big deal, it just means I like the Crows more, because they aren't pretending to be something they're not.

But it wasn’t. The Port Adelaide football club joined the AFL. They were told they cannot use the magpie name so they used the Power name.
They made a mistake continuing in the SANFL but it was all the sane club.
There is nothing confusing about it at all.

Dont get dragged down to that level of stupidity, they'll beat you with experience.

The reality is, Port Adelaide we're welcomed into the AFL because we were deemed worthy of a place in the competition.
We werent cobbled together out of spite or designed to expand into new markets.

We're a real club with real history that were too good for our State league and have gone on to hold our own against the best.
That we've won as many flags in St Kilda's league in 28yrs as St Kilda have in 152yrs is a bonus.

Power. I like Kenny and think he has gotten some very average teams to preliminary finals. Once he's gone Port will sink faster than Sydney and Port fans will feel bad about for how they treated him. I hope he's coaching the Dockers next year

Who's mistake was that?

Under SANFL provision for a second AFL licence, we had to split the club in two and the SANFL Magpies had to be relocated to an amateur league footy ground at Ethelton with separate administration to the AFL club.

Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club was the newly formed club as a result. The actual Port Adelaide Football Club became The Power.

PAFC did not want the Magpies to continue in the SANFL as they did not want two separate clubs fighting over the resources of the same supporter base.

That came all ahead in the late 2000's as the PAMFC came close to collapsing and the PAFC in dire financial issues. A fund raising drive implemented by former player greats including Tim Giniver and George Fiachi in 2012 save the PAMFC, then the went on to put forward the one club initiative to merge the two clubs back together. Many attribute this action that saved the PAFC more so than Kochie & Ken in 2013 onwards.

Also this period is what Never Tear Us Apart truly means to the club as we were literally torn apart but brought back together by the former greats of the club.

I prefer Port for a few reasons
I lived for about 15 years in a neighbouring suburb, Semophore. In 2010 when Richmond beat Port in about round 10 for Hardwick’s first win as a Coach, so many of them came up to me and congratulated my team. Of course they were spewing it was against them. Really good sports.

When I got home the day after the 2017 grand final, it was to a hero’s welcome. Gifts of top shelf scotch etc. You’d reckon I’d kicked the winning goal. I felt impelled to inform them that I really played no part in the game at all apart from attending. Didn’t seem to change their attitude.
They really hate the Crows.
Really doubt that this actually happened

And a certain type of Adelaide supporter who never let the truth get in the way of a good story,

Port. Back in 2000 I lived in Semaphore, near Port Adelaide, for about 6 months. My housemate was a Port supporter and I went to a few matches with him. So I developed a bit of a soft spot for them. Gavin Wanganeen was also my favourite player when he was at Essendon so I followed his career, and Hardwick to a lesser extent, at Port as well.

Adelaide. Football was better with them being really good. Loved their premierships and they should have had another two. Port are pretty consistent, Hinkley has done well. Kept them up there. Port Adelaide’s history goes back to 1997 though, when they joined. However if we say that then we need to acknowledge when the VFL clubs joined the AFL. So if we forget Port history let’s also forget that of the VFL clubs.

I’d like to see both teams win a flag. Hopefully the Crows can soon.

I would actually love to see a Showdown GF

Love watching Port.

I dont dislike Adelaide.

I seem to have more of a soft spot for the full AFL code states than the non ones. No time for Swans, GWS, GC or Lions
