I can't think of any team in VFL/AFL history that missed finals for 7 seasons in a row that went onto win the premiership.
Maybe not so many premierships, but there are high-fliers.

Sydney 1996 had been out of finals for nine years.
Collingwood 2002 had been out of finals for eight years.
Collingwood 2018 had been out of finals for five years.

There are a few premiers that didn’t play finals the previous year, such as Melbourne 2021, Richmond 2017, Geelong 2007, Adelaide 1997.

Dees played finals in 2018 and before that all the way back to 2006. They went fine didn't they.

While we did play finals in 2013, 2014, 2015 we didn't win any of them in fact we lost all of them in a somewhat embarrassing fashion (losing to 9th, kicking into the wind in the first quarter, playing a side that rested virtually their whole team the week before because they know they'd make it regardless). So we didn't really have the experience and it didn't matter, I think the same could be true for Adelaide, plus this time they've got Neil Balme with them this time and success always seems to follow that man.

That is experience, the players would understand the intensity and preparation required even though they were losing finals. That 3 finals series in a row definitely aided them in 2017.

What about the dogs 2016?

Would 1 elim final the year before make that much difference to their ‘experience’?

I know what you mean but you had a really good list and you had finals experience. I think you need that at a minimum before winning a flag. Lots of teams have had immediate finals experience of some capacity.

Of course they can win the whole damn thing. They are peaking at the right time, cockahoop, well coached, no panic.

As usual for nonVic teams, getting it done in Melbourne will be a further challenge aside from the oppo. That's how it is under the Viccentric footy Empire. Note that all empires come to an end. Eventually. Can't wait for that!

But there are worthy contenders everywhere for Crows, from 1 to 9 ( espesh 1 to 4) who can spoil the party if they get things going in their favour. In this order:
Cats
Brizzy
Pies
Dogs
Freo
Hawks
Suns
Giants.

Pies have no chance. Crows will thump us next week.

Pies have lots of problems suddenly, it's true. But they have premiership pedigree in the players and coaches, they have 3 weeks to sort things out, they do have an excellent record recent years of adapting and being agile.
