GAS by any distance you would like to pick.
Umm, a 70 m GAS drop punt?

Seriously, it's so frustrating watching players kick for goal from 40m or more out. Some don't even make it. It wasn't until the man on the mark was 60m out that one would doubt if GAS would make it (and he certainly wouldn't pass it, haha!)

Interesting that ZGuthrie was on the mark for Crisp. If you had your time again you would have either Blitz or Neale manning a kicker from 50 out, particularly late in the match. Something to think about if it ever happens again.
Don't think you can do that anymore unless they were in the contest.

Is there any other player in the AFL like Dangerfield at the moment? You rarely see someone hunt the footy, hit the contest like a freight train and look like such a dominant beast. Much respect to the man, he really loves the game.

Beastly but so smart, took two on at speed, knew he wasnt getting through, angled body and got arms in position to handball to Bowes. Goal. When the chips are down they are looking for him too. That used to be Cameron.

Cameron had a relatively poor game, he knows it and compounds his errors by trying to do too much downfield.
Probably gets a bit more credit for being a bit of a lure, trying to teach Shannon as well.

Agree that Joel is THE club legend, but even he couldn't do the things Patrick did last night. In 50 years of watching the Cats, that game by Danger was as close as the way Gary Ablett (Snr ofc) at his best used to dominate games and make everyone around him look like schoolboys in comparison. If you never saw Ablett play in person (and youtube highlights are nothing like it), well, now you know what it was like. And Danger is an all round nice guy, not the very flawed individual that Snr was.

I am hoping COS will fill the void in excitement when PFD has to retire. That kid looks like he might be able to!
H Reid is the danger replacement.

Prior opportunity is only a thing if the ball is dislodged OR if the tackled player is tackled in such a way that it was impossible to dispose of the ball.

Blitz was tackled by one player and had an arm free, and made no attempt to dispose. Prior opportunity in that situation is irrelevant.

Fair call.

My recollection may be flawed but Joel was very consistent.
Danger, Ablett senior more mercurial but prone to flatlining for periods that time has allowed us to forget.
Agreed that Joel was the more consistent, but Danger's peak abilities was a step above Joel, and then GAS played on another level again (when he wanted to).

I'd put it this way, if you kicked the ball down to the 3 of them 10 times, to compete with the aim of kicking a goal, GAS would kick 4 goals 3, Danger 1 goal 1 and Joel might get the remaining shot, if the other 2 knocked each other out!

We're in the last quarter, the game is on the line and it's when you're looking to senior players to step up and take on the game

The 4th quarter may just be the best quarter we've seen from Mullin - not necessarily in term of this output with ball in hand, but because of what he did without it

He also got more touches himself

Wow!

No coincidence we have looked a lot better with him back. Him and miers add the creativity we desperately need.
He must have had a kick up the butt at the half time break. 3 kicks up to half time and Daicos dominating him in possession and ease of leaving defence.

Not just restricting him, I’d say it was more about the pressure applied to the possession. Daicos was stunted in his effectiveness, where he wasn’t able to get that clarity of disposal and that really hurt the Pies at the death.

I'd be insisting the tallest blokes are standing on the goal line ready to block the goal- ideally a tall on the mark as well- I'm sure they practice these exact scenarios.

Haven't seen anyone talk about what Blitz did to give away the free just after the bounce which very nearly cost us the game.

Seemed very stupid, no? Probably the loudest I've ever yelled at my TV.

I think Danger's finishing his career more strongly and had a longer peak, but I think we forget just how good peak Joel was too.
Selwoods peak was awesomely good. He is underrated by the afl public. I rate him as highly as pendlebury. He was top 3 player in the comp at peak. But dangers peak was best player in the comp. Selwood never reached the level of danger 2016-17. Could never dominate down foward like danger. Could never accelerate like danger.

Watched a few replays and read the forum. What I can't get over is those smug, self entitled and not as funny as they think they are, TV panel, trying to set up Blics for a fall. WTF were they trying to achieve: Tell us honestly did you touch it?
Yes, I did. Then the vapid chick says Do you promise? Twice, laughing at herself.
This is precedent. Don't give them access to players when they have to face such verbal diarrhea.

10 individual goal scorers with only 1 from Jez is also a great sign of how well our scoring power is spread
Great to see Ollie Henry really take his chances tonight and Mannagh is just a big moment player around goal
And a sign of how bad Jez is going sadly, just cant get involved

100 percent a trip he tackled his legs, end of story. We were out played but we showed flexibility and heart that is invaluable, grinding out a win separates the sides at the end of the day.

COS another great effort, Mihochek went into beast mode for the last 5 mins but other than that he was amazing.

I don’t like O’Connor if he doesn’t have a job but as a medium small back he could be good, just keep him out of the center forward positions.

We won without Stewart, Miers and pretty much Jeremy Cameron.

Neale took some amazing marks to begin with but undid it all with his decisions with the football.

Please play Duncan again he just makes good choices and is a great kick.

Danger that was one of the best quarters I have ever seen. You lift the team week after week with your efforts.

Blitz just gives everything and I am thankful Stanley got an injury and it let him take over in the ruck.

What a win I am so happy and can’t really believe we somehow won!
You forgot Kolo and Jack Henry. When we get them all back and they have had 4 or 5 games it will give us way more flexibility

Just watched the game, and what a beauty. Luck was on our side for the win, that's for sure. I imagine many Pies supporters complaining bitterly about some of those last quarter umpire decisions. Oh well, swings and roundabouts. What a game from Paddy in the second half. A real Captain's performance. I thought Smith, Mannagh, Dempsey, Holmes, Bowes, and Atkins all were superb. Mullins did a superb job of curtailing Nick Daicos, keeping him to like three touches in that last quarter. We got a bit lucky in a high-pressure game, and we'll take it. We needed those 4 points more than they did.
