Some good vision..Can’t be taught, but I’m just getting ‘Atkins lite’ vibes from him.
Not the sort of feeling we should be getting from a guy we got with a high pick and midfield aspirations.
Remember he’s missed the entire first year, or most of it from injury. Everyone realises he needs bulk, which will take a while to put on.

Are we allowed to laugh to at the OP 😉
Ill Allow It GIF

Reviewed the second half last night.
I was surprised by how much ground Bowes covered and the influence he had , capped it off with a great goal.
Wiltshire also had some moments apart from the goal which suggests he could be more of a regular.
Encouraging signs.

I hope we have a team performance this week with Paddy and Bailey playing their roles well rather than us relying on them to shoot the lights out to get the W.

Appreciate more what player do and the positions they get too rather than the number of disposals
Its not Clarks fault that the ball was kick out on the full when he was in the clear. Bowes was caught holding the ball when Clark was in the clear running past into the 50. Clark is getting into good space more often and his tank is improving.

He may never be a star but he will be a very serviceable player in time

Clark has a roll set for him by the coaching staff and as long as he is carrying out the roll
I love Dempsey but he will never do what Clark does and visa versa

Josh Daicos had 32 disposals from half back only 3 contested and 2 tackles 8 pressure acts (that's his roll)
Dan Houston had 20 disposals 2 contested and 1 tackle, 10 pressure acts
Jhye Clark had 12 disposals and 9 contested with 2 tackles, 11 pressure acts

He did get done for staging once. Surprised me at the time.

Come on now, you mean there was no high contact here 😉

Funnily enough, he may have been ok if he went down immediately after the mark as there appeared to be a slight tap to the head in the marking contests itself

They weren't even controversial though.

Watching the segment the only controversial part was that Fox footage clearly shows Blicavs not touch the ball but it stayed a behind because the goal umpire was unsure and the boundary umpire called behind.

The HTB at the end was clear as day and the footage clearly shows Hill perform a trip.

I didn’t agree with Razor on the Mannagh free kick against Maynard. Mannagh ducked and it should have been play on. I can understand why that decision was the only one the pies asked for clarification

Excellent point and i totally agree with you

Mannagh is an excellent player with great goal sense , but what he did leading with the head was highly dangerous , and full credit to Maynard for showing great care

Him ducking and leading with the head was not dissimilar to what Neil Sasche did playing for Footscray in the mid 70s at the Western Oval which ended up in tragic circumstances , there was a bigger gap between the 2 players , but he ducked the head and led with it .

Did ol' Razor have anything to say about the 25m penalty paid to Mullin?
It would have been an opportune time to ask him if umps show any favoritism, intentionally or not. Daicos three times gave Mullin a little extra while on the ground. The first one, the commentator happily said how a taggee can get a tagger back, second was pretty blatantly late but not whistled, and finally the third was, and given an abbreviated distance. :rolleyesv1:

Maynard squared up to bump when he didn't have to, players have been told ad nauseum that if you choose to bump, you are responsible for the outcome.

I went with 2 ahead of time and it still doesn't feel outlandish. With reasonable goal kicking we'd be at 2 after today. That wasn't in my calculations.
Can't see our MF, ruck, and defensive issues helping us against Port and Doggies, plus Danger looked as if he could use a break, and not the 5 day variety.

Midfield? Smith, Holmes and Blicavs were superb. Atkins was solid.

Agreed about the rest. It's a 4/10 level defence. Full strength it's more like 7 or 8/10.

Dangerfield did look leggy.
