At least top 10-15 in the comp.
But point was, despite all the top 5 picks we've had, we haven't drafted a superstar. And the response rightly is - there were no superstars (yet) from those drafts except Daicos and Darcy (both F/S) and possibly Tilthorpe who was drafted before our pick.

This is nature vs nurture.

I have no doubt we’ve drafted players with the nature side.

We’ve then nutured that by beating the absolute shit out of them for their careers.

How many games has Harry won? 10?

Everyone’s resilience is finite.

You put any of our top line players in a semi decent side and they’d have a platform to actually deliver on the nature side of things.

I was pulling up the notion players like Curtis and Xerri are superstars, which is what was being hinted at the below:
Hey? Sheezel, Curtis, Xerri... others are still young

Harry is in his third season. McKercher is in his second and FOS is in his first. They've barely started their careers. Its going thru this stuff that builds resilience. Its doesn't kill it. If you can't hack it you never had that resilience to begin with.

Its taken Darcy four years to be on the verge of becoming a superstar. In a pretty good side. You could say the same about Paul Curtis because his start to the season was elite by any standards. It was his fourth year too. Darcy isn't there yet but he does have that Carey like ability to take contested marks. (Sort of. Dunno how he'd perform under the sort of physical pressure Carey copped.) Paulie isn't either but if he builds on his start to the season next year he'll be the best non kp forward in the game by a mile.

That and he's a very similar height, build and moves very similarly to Thomas. They have similar long beautiful kicks and can both jump and mark. I haven't watched him alot but when he runs and kicks long he reminds me of Thomas, if Thomas had a Tank/Engine.
Both can kick goals too, similar athleticism and you can argue that Tarryn is the neater kick.

Sheezel is awesome don't get me wrong but he's more on the crafty side rather than athletic

Tarryn was pretty hard too. In his first year he smashed by someone - a huge oppo ruckman and bounced straight back up laughing about it, then didn't take a backward step.

Dunno what happened to make him a soft**** who gets his car nicked and runs to the coppers.

Throw everything at these blokes. Seriously I don't hate the bring in Wardlaw, Payne, keep Konstanty in, keep Banch in, and tell everyone go hell for leather for 120 minutes, damn the torpedoes. If there was ever a time for a response it would be now. Leave nothing on the table. If they don't respond we will know they are not fair dinkum

100% +1 here with all those out's and in's taz, that's the sort of statement that absolutely needs to be made, but my confidence that it will be, is just slightly above absolute zero.
It’s probably the only move that can be done to initiate the necessary cultural shift to shake up the joint.

Otherwise as you said nothing will ever change.

Looking forward to the player props markets opening for this one.

Saints victory still paying 1.27

Throw a 30+ NWM leg on, pick and choose goalscorers between Higgins and Sharman, and its

In: Wardlaw, Larkey, George, Payne, Coop, Ford
Out: Logue, Daniel, Powell, Konstanty, Maley, RHJ
I’d like to see B George and Payne get a game before the year is out but I’m sure it’ll be minimal changes as per usual.

I doubt Souv will be back and they shouldn't risk him. Whitlock was recruited as a forward, let's give him a taste of AFL again.

Duursma really should be playing forward. Enough experimenting with positions for him. If we think he is a Gunston type, play him there. I would also play one of Curtis/Zurhaar really deep at all times - sick of watching us get a turnover and look up to nothing in the I50.

WilPhil seems to be our choice as a tagger so he might come in if they want to try and lock down NWM, but I doubt he can go with him, especially over 4 quarters.

The centre contest is our biggest issue. Our mids get beaten one on one too often. We tackle but they often don't hold the player up so I think the stats flatter Powell and LDU a bit here. Wouldn't mind giving FOS some time here and see if he can bring a bit of grunt and class to our mix.

Time to try something else other than Daniel across half back. Not good enough. The trade was a good idea, but it hasn't worked - let's move on. Sheezal to go back there more often and recapture his form. Maybe give kick outs to Sheez, Colby and Hardeman? We need some courage here and take the game on more. Let the kids loose!

We really miss LMac and Archer. Maybe Ford to come in and go to Higgins? Maybe Hardeman, but feels like he has lost a bit of his defensive edge recently.

Comben has to go back to defence, he is our best defender. I am not sure what Logue is. Not tall enough to be a KPD, not fast enough to play on medium forwards, not skillful enough to be a run off defender, can't position himself, can't tackle - goodbye. W.Dawson to play back as well, that is his best spot. Leave Chom, Dawson and Pink to play together for the rest of the year and see if they can start to develop an understanding. They key thing here is for them to develop an understanding of how they should proactively cover opponents. As soon as you are reactive it's already too late.
