The focus on Weller is missing the big picture. He was no world beater, but he offered more in the forward half than many of his much more experienced team-mates. His ceiling is unknown, he deserves a run to improve and show what he has to offer.
Especially GC. Same as Tab.

He wasn't but neither was anyone else. What's the point on playing the same mature players who have stopped developing and instead have regressed?

When our best mids like Mundy and Fyfe play well they bring others into the game. It's a confidence thing and we lacked it today.

Weller is hardly being pumped up but other teams back their youth in for longer amounts and some sink while the cream swim. Only one way of finding out.

It's not about bandaid solutions it's about developing the future.
Totally agree with you I see you vision now.:thumbsu: I like this JMT where I can understand his vision.

He is being pumped up. He got votes in the best on. Don't try to tell me he deserved them. Like I said he should and will stay in but he was no where in the best. There was a long list of the worst . He was in the middle of that lot. He is excused because he is inexperienced. Tell me what would happen if we had the 6 or 7 inexperienced playing. Imagine the melts then.

They couldn't have played any worse and even if they did they are at least the future.

What if they perform , imagine the toast .

Personally, i think Taberner should be dropped. Pathetic. Needs more aggression in his game. After that, maybe omit Barlow, Mzungu, and anyone who is injured or suspended (i.e. Clarke and Pav) ... Barlow's up'n'under kicking led to a few turnovers today... And Mz, well, I didn't notice him until he put in few half baked efforts. Replace these guys with maybe Langdon or Blakely?

Gold coast and Gws were playing a heap of kids and they were all top draft picks and they were cannon fodder. You're dreaming if you think throwing in a heap of kids will work. We have seen what happens when we rest players and bring in the kids. Sure bring 2 or 3 of those that are performing at Peel but the 6 or 7 being mentioned is plain silly.

Out:
Clarke- absolutely pathetic effort, but if he's 'injured' then he can have a rest
Mzungu - he's old now, and slow. Let's give Blakely/Weller his spot and see how they go
C. Pearce - Don't let his disposal count fool you. He just looks lost with the ball at times and like Mzungu, is slow and a one-trick pony
Suttclife- very ordinary today and Sheridan has his spot as the rebounding defender. Too many of the same types.

In:
Sandilands
Blakely
De Boer
Johnson

I don't think you can play 6 or 7 you silly old men maybe 4 or 5. The three amigo and a.Pearce maybe Collins also . jaegar , swallow out already , with bennell with us ,dixon gone as well.who else is there as top 10 draft .

The most outlandish changes being suggested are 7 including Johnson, Sandilands, Bennell and A Pearce who imo has proven himself. No one is suggesting putting 7 kids in and as per usual you misrepresent the arguments of whoever disagrees with you.

4 or 5 .Tell me who they are and where will they play and who won't play. Convince me that you know what you're talking about.

I think last year the point about playing the players who actually put the more dominant performances on the park for Peel (i.e. your DeBoers and Mzungus) and not rewarding kids based on nebulous potential rather than actual record was valid. You can't make that call when you're leading the ladder all year.

This year I think is where we should make that call. Even if DeBoer kills the WAFL and Subes is serviceable in the AFL we should be preferentially playing the Wellers, Langdons and Blakelys. Should we sit at 1-3 after 4 rounds (which I think we will), I expect that to be the minimum.

One thing which doesn't help is playing 2 giant lumbering ruckmen who are useless as forwards. Let's ignore they seem useless at rucking as well. Maybe bring them in against weaker sides so we don't completely run Sandi into the ground. But he has to go mostly solo against good sides.

It's rare for decent sides to play 2 dedicated rucks with no other tricks. They can either genuinely play forward (Tippett, Jenkins), or be quick and nimble in their movement (Naitanui, Stanley, Martin, Blicavs, Westhoff). Clarke's knees are shot, he'll never be in the latter category.

Teams with the old school rucks like Mumford, Gawn, Jacobs, Goldstein, Lobbe ... They don't play another old school ruckman.

Desperately needed Apeness to come along, but for now that is not even close to being an option. I say we make Taberner toughen up and pinch hit in the ruck around the ground once the centre bounce is done. Doubt he'll be much good, but I think it's better than going with a second giant. And maybe he'll learn a thing or two about using his body.

Mate we aren't going to win a flag with the current players so please tell me what we are going to lose developing these young kids with game time.

It's a notion Alfonz and Griff was unusually ineffective and disappointing.
Clarke knackered himself in the first bouncedown, but has only ever offered potential.
We went in tall and were well short of it.

only 1 or 2 people who, to put it politely are being unrealistic have mentioned the likes of Grey, Smith, Ueber.
The majority want to see Weller retained, Langdon and Alex Pearce added along with Bennell and Mora when ready.
Surely you can't think thats not realistic?
