We all know nothing will happen at the selection table, Craig is weak as water when it comes to selections. He made it clear that Porplyzia won't be dropped despite doing absolutely nothing in three weeks of footy. Edwards is no longer up to the pace of the game, he's too slow by mind and has zero awareness. Been a champion, but his time is up.

What I'd do:

In: Jaensch, McKernan, VB
Out: Doughty, Douglas, Edwards

What will probably happen:

In: VB
Out: Petrenko

Prove me wrong Craig, make the tough calls at selection for once.

Drop Burton before douglas I'd say.

We don't really have enough fit players to make wholesale changes though..

We're currently one tall down, maybe two but not against our opposition this week. We can drop Edwards through correcting this problem and still drop Doughty too.

So as a minimum...

IN: Jaensch, McKernan
OUT: Doughty, Edwards

As I said in an earlier post, I'd also be looking at getting Young and maybe Armstrong in but that all depends on what we're going to do with Tippett and whether or not we drop one of our out of form forwards. For the sake of stability maybe not, but we have enough fit players to make four changes if Craigy feels adventurous.

This is just a sh*t statement. I haven't been a huge Douglas fan but at least the guy is improving. But because he's your whipping only 40 possessions and 5 goals will save him each week.

Apart from round 1, Richie has been one of the few shining lights this year.

Seriously, just drop everyone.

Point your fingers at the players you love to bag and criticise.

It is almost laughable. When the wheels fall off, its always the same players' fault from the same posters. Get over yourselves. Face it, its going to be ugly in all directions but falsely accusing your pet hates all the time is now too boring to contemplate.

OUT: Edwards, Doughty
IN: Jaensch, McKernan

If VB is fit then Jaensch drops out. We really need another ruckman, lets not make McKernan play the compulsary 50 games of SANFL footy before he gets another crack.

footy4ever, you clown you. CaptainDangerfield defending Douglas, now there's a shock!

I think Douglas has two things in his favour; firstly, he hasn't been *that* bad - other guys have been worse.

Secondly, the fact he isn't an established player works in his favour here; if we put the cue in the rack, then let's leave Douglas in the side for the year, play him in the middle, and at the end of the year we'll know for sure whether he's worth keeping or not.

300 gamers have no place in a team which finishes 15th. It may not happen this week, but it is pretty likely that Edwards and McLeod will leave the team at some point during the year if this form keeps up. Maybe mid-season retirements. Even though they have been amongst our better players this year so far, there is nothing gained by keeping them in the team.

Tippett, the focus must be on having him play at his best from next year. If that means he needs match practice then play him, but he looks like he could do with a rest. I don't know his exact injury status, but I'm going to guess that he would be helped by a break for a few weeks.

In: Jaensch, Armstrong, McKernan
Out: McLeod, Edwards, Tippett

Bit worried about Rutten and Bock too, both have been falling over a lot. At least Rutten now has a match-up against the dogs!

Am actually heading to Melbourne next weekend so I will be at the game...not feeling particularly confident...

Time for Vince, Thompson and Knights to take over the midfield.

C'mon Drummond. Even you would have to admit Douglas the midfielder looks 10 times better than Douglas as a small forward. What is it about him that you despise so much?

BTW I would consider giving Jaensch a crack this week in the place of Cook. We have seen a fair bit of Cook, now time to see abit of Jaensch. I saw him only a couple of times last year but I liked what I saw. Plays with passion and seems to be a polished player.

IN: Jaensch, Stevens
OUT: Cook, Doughty

No point changing it too much. Not like we're going to get anywhere near the Dogs next week. Stevens is in our best 22 and Jaensch MUST be given a run, please Craig, just play him. Doughty back to the SANFL to get some confidence and Cook just doesn't look up to it at the moment.

Completely agree about Douglas in the midfield, he's a million times better there than up forward. However given he barely plays in the midfield and only as a last resort, clearly that's not where the coaches want him. In that case he doesn't have a spot in the side. Was average yesterday and had turnovers galore in the second half and to say that he's one of our shining lights shows how bad we've been this year. Not that he actually has been though.

Cook needs to stay, these games are golden for his development. Jaensch must play though, someone needs to make way for him.

And the man to make way is Tyson Oldwards.

no achievement. he's a terrible small forward.

Douglas has been going around for 5 years now, you may as well keep in Cook and replace Douglas with Jaensch. Douglas has been surpassed by Vince, MacKay, Knights, Otten, Dangerfield and arguably Martin and Schmidt who I reckon could play his role.

As it stands if Martin, Otten, VB and Symes were all fit, I doubt Douglas would be in the team, he's a fringe player at best. We have more than enough small type players who could cover him.

Also what about Armstrong. He didn't set the world on fire but neither dod alot of his teammates. Must come in and be given 5-8 games at some stage.

Yep, hard to argue with this point. He didn't really set the bar high in his role as a small forward. I think he is worth pesisting with as a midfielder. We don't have too many other options. He will be on our list for at least another year, may as well give him a crack.

I must admit as bad as we have been, I'm excited to see how Jaensch, McKernan and Henderson go at some stage. Surely the promising early form of Davis and Schmidt may make Craig rethink his conservative selection policy.

Henderson can't come onto the list unless we get another serious injury. Hentsch's injury seems to be better than first thought, maybe time to tell him to take one for the team and go as injured for 8 weeks.

I'd be keen to see Jaensch play, for no other reason than he has some arrogance. I fear our playing group has become too vanilla. It is one of the reasons I wanted us to have a crack at Rhan Hooper, he fitted a need and maybe we need some players who are not so virginal when it comes to how they play and portray themselves. I'm sick of hearing how disciplined we are like that is perfect in every situation. The world won't end if we have a player get reported. But you get the feeling the first to do so gets the cane and 500 lines.

I think that doughty should be the first of the over 30's to be dropped if van berlo is fit. Maybe a switch between McLeod and Petrenko from back to forward might try something different and I think we need to play a second ruckman so Tippett can spend a considerable time period in the forward lines

recent Crows article said that van Berlo is available for selection this week...
Sellar's injury update was 1-2 weeks on the 13th April...so he could be in contention for this week. Stevens concussion is still unknown, so hopefully he's ready to go.

anyway, from this week's performance, it seems a lot of changes still need to be made.

IN: van Berlo, Sellar (if fit), Stevens (if fit)/McKernan, Jaensch
OUT: Tippett (rested and made to practice his goal-kicking along with the rest of the team), Cook, Doughty, Petrenko

I have bad news for all those calling for Henderson's selection... we can't.

We currently have 2 players on the LTI list - Martin and Otten. Martin has been replaced by Schmidt and Otten has been replaced by Jaensch. We can't promote Henderson next week unless we place another player on the LTI list - Moran & Hentschel would be the obvious candidates, but doing so means that the club is consigning them to the injury list for a minimum of 8 weeks.

Right now, the players available for selection next week are:
VB (maybe)
Stevens (unlikely)
McKernan
Jaensch
Young
Armstrong
Jacky
Talia
Gunston
James
What about Jonathon Griffin?? Interesting to see who you would play instead of Edwards. If form in SANFL means anything there is not too much there. I found it laughable to hear Rowie and Wildy calling for Henderson and Talia to be picked. They have a future but they are not ready yet.
