A lot of angst amongst the supporters about the performance last night but I can't see a changes thread yet.

Who would you take out?

I don't really know how the team is going injury wise but for the sake of defensive pressure I wouldn't mind seeing Cameron in if he is fit.

Given that it is another night game in Queensland I assume it will be greasy again, so getting more run into the team will be important.

In: Cameron
Out: Ah Chee

That is only for team balance reasons, I don't think Ah Chee was any worse than a large number of players. If they wanted they could also move him into the contest and get a bigger body over the ball, in which case you would be looking at dropping someone like Brander. I would like to see Brander get an extended run of games though.

Cole is also a possible inclusion.

Petch has to go permanently.
Who comes in only god knows.
Nelson out and Brander to fill his role down back.
Ah Chee to the wing.
Why would you drop Nelson? He’s one of the few combative players we have and we’ll need them in greasy conditions.

He has a crack I will give him that and yes in these types of conditions he does better than some. Just don’t think he has much to offer as a back, try him on a wing maybe or as a forward, least he will chase and apply pressure.

We need to prioritise X O’Neill (if he’s fit and available) on a wing and Williams as second ruck.

The side isn’t balanced by throwing Allen in as second ruck. Trying to have our cake and eat it too. Whether that means an established player is dropped, so be it.

Oh and Cameron back in is a priority, he’ll handle those conditions well. As would Venables...and Rioli...

The lack of Beagle matches really hurts M O’Neill (when he links up) and Foley, who is slightly intriguing but way too skinny. Ainsworth has hopefully had his papers stamped already.

Rotham has already shown some quality at AFL level and should be getting more games ASAP.

Without singling out anyone, as we barely had a handful of consistent contributors, I was really disappointed with Ah Chee. He was happy to fly at every ball when we already had 2 talls going for it. Provided almost nothing. Unfortunately, I don't think he has the awareness for this level, but wouldn't totally be against giving this squad another game to see if they can rectify such a shit house performance.

With all due respect he is a midfielder, either throw him up on the wing or don’t play him. Having said that I would rather him forward than Petch.

Brander has to go out. Liability at AFL level currently. Need to look at other options on the wing - ?Duggan, ?O’Neill (not many spring to mind). If Duggo goes to a wing, Cole or Rotham could come into defence.

Would love Cameron in if fit for either Petch or Ah Chee.

Sheed on a wing?

He's not an AFL midfielder, even his WAFL form isn't super impressive. I seriously doubt he'll be given full-time mid minutes, but happy to be proven wrong.

Got a feeling Simmo won't be making many, if any changes this week. Despite what we all want.

Whole team was diabolical, he's not going to scapegoat a nuff like Ah Chee, Petch or Nelson. The fact is there was a dozen other players just as bad.

Cameron in for someone due to the greasy conditions might be the only thing considered.

Even that looks unlikely given Vozzo recently said they're taking a conservative build up with him.

I don't think it is all doom and gloom. If not for the greasy conditions I would probably give the team another shot the way it was. I just thought the forward line looked odd even before the game started.

There was a serious lack of pace and numbers at the ball. I hope they're training at night this entire week given how many games we have at night up there.

Watching the footage back and players like Yeo, Gaff and Kelly will see they had way more time to dispose of the ball than they thought, some truly baffling decisions by a number of players to throw it on the boot when they were in the clear.

However without seeing the footage upfield it could also be a case of the forwards not getting separation. So hard to tell, everything was just shit.

I agree.

I only suggested Ah Chee for balance reasons, I don't think he was really the worst or deserves to be a scapegoat. I just think as bad as Petrucelle might be, he still generated a few shots and is a bit quicker on the ground which we sort of need.

Would like to see this line up at Optus Stadium to see how they go.

The shorter quarters is one thing in Cameron's favour, despite coming off injury it won't be as taxing as it otherwise would be.

Ah Chee out for Cameron (if fit).

Maybe Brander out and Rotham/Cole in. Push Nelson up onto the wing to run with McLuggage. A healthy Hutch would be a better option. We were missing any sense of defensive accountability through the midfield last night. As much as I'd like to get more games into Brander, now is not the time for experiments - we need to win games early.

That said... if we could just pick up the ball cleanly, last night would have been a different game. So fumbly.

As funny as it is with Brander being the newer, taller, bed wetting Marsden.. I'm sure the club isn't going to just abandon all their effort attempting to turn him into a winger.

It does highlight however, just how stupid that idea looks currently. Even more so with Kennedy getting worse and worse.

Successfully turned the best KPP from that draft and new club full forward into a tall wingman who's average losing margin is 41pts and looks scared of his own shadow.

Hard to predict changes when we’ve gotten zero reports from the reserves match. It also seems like the guys closest to selection at the moment (Schofield, Waterman, Williams) aren’t the sort of players we’re looking for. Cameron sounds like he’s a way away from resuming so I think you can put a line through him for Brisbane.

For those reasons, the players most under the pump after that abysmal “effort” - Brander, Ah Chee, Petruccelle - will probably survive, unless someone like Treacy, XON or Jones has torn it up in the scratch match.

If Kennedy is sore then Williams could come in as NicNat’s backup and let Allen play permanent forward. Waterman is another option but I think Allen will struggle against McInerney. Waterman could also pressure Ah Chee or Petruccelle but they’ll be wary of going in too tall if the conditions are going to be slick again.

Rotham or Schofield on standby for Gov but I think he should get away with a fine. They’ll probably persist with Brander on a wing for at least one more week but he needs to start showing something pretty quick.

So predicted changes:

Out: Kennedy (sore)
In: Williams

B: Sheppard, Barrass, Hurn
HB: Duggan, McGovern, Jetta
C: Gaff, Shuey, Redden
HF: Cripps, Allen, Sheed
F: Ryan, Darling, Petruccelle
R: Naitanui, Kelly, Yeo
I: Williams, Nelson, Brander, Ah Chee
E: Schofield, Hickey, Waterman, whichever young small played well in the ressies

Cameron is still injured, didnt even play in the practice match. Pretty sure the two rookies we picked for forward depth are also injured too.

Fivey why would Kennedy be sore?

He's literally had 3 months off, injury free, slimmed right down and played a grand total of 1 game

And it wasn't like he was bruised and battered either, he was just slow and beaten soundly
