Dugrene - I am a Duff fan too. Needs game time to develop.

But it is not how CC manages a team. Regular non performers get first choice and the likes of Duff and Murphy are dropped for no real reason. Should stick with some of our young blokes.

It would be easier to take the Des baggers more seriously if they didn't insist that players like Murphy are in good form or shouldn't have been dropped.

Just how many games with almost zero possessions should Connolly have given Murphy before he gets dropped? Especially given that Campbell was snapping at his heels and actually showing some enthusiasm for the game.

These threads create the dilemma of who (the poster says) will be in the team as opposed to who we can second guess the match committee.

The thing with Cook, he is regular performer as opposed to some non-performers yet he gets dropped.
If I was talking from my gut feeling for this week i'd drop M. Carr and Solomon and look towards skilled ball winners. We dont need tacklers and shut down players if we have skill game winners. I know none of these new guys have proven this ability yet but if this is the game that our season might hinge on why not throw caution to the wind and prepare for either finals or '08.

Solomon? That is crazy.

He is skilled and hard. Ok his set shots are iffy, but I'd give him a run in the middle.

Cook is not a regular performer. A couple of good tackles and bumps here and there is not regularly performing. Yes it might be inspiring and something the crowd will remember, but he has to beat his opponent on the day which Cook struggles to do at this point in his career. That is why he was dropped.

It's a shame that good form is bot being rewarded at the moment as one of these young blokes should be given a game.

Campbell and Warnock are both young players who were brought in because of their WAFL form. Walker is an experienced player dropped because of poor form (even though we lack pace) and brought back in because he showed fantastic WAFL form. Parker is currently playing WAFL due to ordinary form.

Good form is being rewarded, bad form is being punished. At the same time they are trying to maintain some team stability and adhere to a game plan.

I don't think the argument is about form at all. I think it is about 1) availability (eg Farmer, Browne, Longmuir, Peake etc) and 2) Fitness (eg Collard, Thornton, Haddrill) and 3) Form (eg Drum, Murphy). If any of those guys overcame these issues they would be in the team now.

Which of Duffield's 6 disposals on the weekend makes you feel like he is a walk up start for the next game? Mind you, that is more disposals than Murphy had when he was in the team (yes I know he is a FF, but Campbell stepped into the same role with purpose). At the moment both of those players should be in and out of the team based on their input on the ground.

I think one of the problems is we bring the WAFL guys in who have good form and they one get the one game to do something and if they dont perform they are out of the side again. Duffield is not going to get any confidence at AFL level if he is in and out every week, give him 2 or 3 games to get some confidence and if he still cant get it together then drop him.

There is no way Solomon will be dropped, I cant believe he is even in the mix to be dropped. One ordinary game against Brisbane and some of the guys on here want him gone. He has been in our best 12 so far this year.

One change for this week.

Out: Josh Carr (Suspended)
In: Paul Hasleby (if fit) or Cook (If Hasleby isnt fit)

Haslbey for Carr is the obvious change and will happen pending fitness.

I wonder about Warnock's place in the team. He is a developing ruckman and looks like he will be fantastic, but at the moment is not a big contributer. His main contribution is giving Sandilands a spell and making sure we're not belted in the meantime as has happened when Gilmore has stepped in.

If he is selected i would like to see him given time in the forward line. It will develop his skills as well as requiring a reasonable tall defender to take him. In fact I would consider for this game with wet weather forecast selecting one of either Warnock/Campbell/Murphy, and asking them to take on ruck duties for short periods. If they did that another smaller/midfield player could come in; Collard/Cook/Gilmore.

OUT
J Carr, Warnock

IN
Hasleby, Collard

We need to get in some game time for Warnock, theres only so much development he can do in the WAFL.

I just hope Kiwi Campbell isn't dropped this week after one poor performance, while other senior guys in the club seem to just cruise on week to week with no accountability.

Do you also want Murphy promoted?

Murphy has had one good game in the WAFL, and didn't fire a shot at AFL level this year, i wouldn't bring him back until he shows some more consistant form at WAFL level. He was deserving of being dropped, just like Kiwi Campbell will be if he has couple more bad games on the trot.

Agree, and anyway they can't both be in the same team, unless Pavlich or Tarrant are missing.

The problem is Gav that if we drop Warnie then Gilmore will be his replacement. If the weather looks bad I'd drop Campbell for Collard and keep Warnie in.

I'm okay with Gilmore for a wet weather game where I expect Warnock to be ordinary and one ruckman to be plenty. Would rather someone else, but he's the the best available tall running player for me.

I would play Warnock forward this week. Exploit the Saints lack of height through injuries. Having Pavlich, Tarrant, Campbell and Warnock down at FF/HF they would be forced to move Koschitzke down back as a defender instead of being the link man in the centre of the ground.

Crowley - Dal Santo
M. Carr - Harvey
Grover - Gehrig
Dodd - Riewoldt
Walker - Milne

McPhalin will play on the gtrain i would think? Is Warnock good enough overhead to play in the forward line?

Rumour has it that Collard will play this week.

2pm news ABC said he will play tomorrow.

I hope he is as good as those on this board who know far more than I do, are right.

Nothing better than watching a first gamer go well :thumbsu: :)

Don't expect too much, it is his first game. Great news though :thumbsu:

so IN: Hasleby, Collard
OUT: J. Carr, ?

I hope it isn't Duffield, Webster or Campbell.

If showers I can't see Warnock staying in...if only a shower or 2, I reckon Duffman will go....he was pretty poor v Geelong Kenny
