Another good game in the Magoos for Wells he takes Adams’ spot? Or Wills in?

And anyone else see this game as a Massive danger game for us?
Carlton?

Only if we have Bolton as our guest speaker.

He bore the pants off them and send them into a coma.

What a bore.

I don't even try accurately predict what changes will be but Reid should stay for mine, even if Cox comes back. Thomas needs a spell to find form and there is multiple players politely knocking on the door but noone banging so I won't hazard a guess what will happen replacing Adams. Even if the injury isn't bad Adams will probably miss as we have the luxury of not taking risks at the moment.

Reid ain’t being dropped on that performance. Cox is not an automatic in.

Carlton is not that good of a side at the moment either. I think it would be good for Reid to get another game in if for no other reason than to knock the cobwebs off going forward. If he had kicked straighter tonight we’d be falling all over him; maybe he needs to get his confidence up against an ostensibly weaker opponent.

I would almost be tempted to play him AND Cox, to experiment with two big forward men, potential testing a counter to the Eagles and their abilities, since they are the team with our number at the moment.

Carlton have been weakened with Kruezer and Simpson out, don't know how long they will be out.
If that is the case, Cox is really not needed. Kruezer was playing great before he went off and those two are the soul of Carlton.

How good is it for a Saturday arvo game?

Carlton's rebound options will be putrid if Newman and Simpson don't play. Our forward line should really put through at least 20 goals with ease.

Collingwood-Carlton games are never blowouts but with our form and their absences, I say the team can and should win by 12+ goals

This is one of the few games I'm not nervous, this should be a top 2 vs bottom 2 blowout but knowing us we won't totally put them to the sword, probably a regular 30-40 point win with us taking our foot off and letting them in for small periods. But the result will never be in doubt just like tonight. I think we are really staking our claim as flag favourites now, I think noone is capable of matching our best but we worryingly go to sleep too much.

May as well keep Cox in cotton wool and not rock the apple cart by making a major selection change with the new Reid dilemma just yet, wait for some more exposed form before deciding on our set up. I'd be surprised if we had Cox, Reid and Mihocek all playing together though. It would take away our point of difference with Stevo, De Goey and Elliott having to fight for crumbs then.

Why not just start a tall on the bench. If we want to maintain the structure of 2talls back, 2 talls forward and a ruck, we actually need one on the bench. 6 blokes, 5 positions, 85% on the ground each. It works.
Becuase the tall on the bench isn’t going to rotate with the tall defenders.

Because it's like being a man down in rotations then. We put so much resources through the engine room but every team does it so we are kind of obliged to. Having weary legs in the middle is death. Stay at home talls don't get a rest, except when the ball is down the other end.

But the talls all play 85% each anyway. So a runnet has to come on rotate the equivalent of a full match to cover them when they are on the bench, why nit just have a tall rotate to cover the talls?

If we decide keeping all the talls is more value than having a Thomas up forward or an Aish down back then maybe but I kind of like the balance now and wouldn't mess too much with what we are already doing, I think a tough call is going to have to be made unless an injury occurs.

You’re forgetting our goalkicking is shite. To kick 20 goals we would need about 45 shots minimum.

In relation to the thread, can please drop Thomas. Watching him run around like a headless chook kicking no further than 35 metres to no one is painful.

That's really going with a new strategy. I prefer settled talls than trying to chop and change and send blokes forward and back. It's a big ask to play forward and back in the same game.
Tonight Reid played 65% forward. 15% ruck. Hes a better defender than ruckman. Have him play 50% forward 30% back. Mihocek 85% forward. moore and Roughy there normal 85% bCk. Grundy 80% ruck. Cox 20% ruck 65% forward. We keep our preferred tall structure for the entire game.

It would be nice to keep them all and yes Reid is basically useless against a proper ruck but putting Reid and Mihocek back for small periods I'm not sold on. Even though they can do it. Who knows, you might give the brains trust an idea if they read this lol.

Thinking about it, dont have both Mihocek and reid rotate. Just use Reid as rotater. Play him as a genuine swingman, with cox still rotating to cover grundy. Reid starts on the bench and covers whuchever tall is resting. He'll play about 50% of the game forward and 30% defence. Roughy and Miire there nirmal game time in defence. Mihocek his normal game time up forward. Cox and Grundy their normal game time up forward and ruck. You wont lose on other rotations because the nirmal scenario would a different bench player covering the talls when they're on the bench. Rotation might be a bit complicated at first, but they'll make it work.
