If Porps plays I will be on the 'sack Sando' bandwagon. Would be an outrageous decision.
If it's wet I would like to see Porps play. Still a class act and his hands were very good last week. The weather brings the game back to his speed. Plus it would be nice to see the no. 40 kick a few goals against the Power one last time.

I actually think Cameron is already a really important player and vital link, especially against quick teams like port. Think his injury will hurt us

Porps hasn't had clean hands at AFL level for over a year and a half. I'm not really fussed at how good he is playing in the SANFL he's past his peak and has been on a downwards trend for the past 2 years, a trend that puts him below AFL standard (IMO)

iam happier whhen players can do an apprenticeship in the SANFL and learn their craft without the constant supporter expectations

You do an apprenticeship but for the sake of the club, the quicker your judged as ready, the quicker you should be in, especially as an outside mid with classy disposal... a position we have been lacking for years.

Atkins is ready, the fact we have gone in with Porps instead is an absolute joke (even whether it is an emergency)

I think porps could be a good inclusion if it's wet to help us win the game. But you do make a point. Everybody was excited about guys like Grigg winning the rising star this year. The fact that it's already round 15 and it looks like another year of development may be wasted is worrying.

Interested in the chat on this thread about who would be a complete waste of space if they played.

How about putting a list in this thread of the players YOU think will be the biggest negatives of the game?

So far it seems to be between:

Porps
Pods
Martin
Otten
Reilly

but I'm sure I've missed a few.

Personally, I expect Pods to be good - a reminder of how much Lynch brings - Otten to continue to improve - Coach to not get caught with his pants down in the first 1/4 again.

Would love to see Brad Crouch get up to speed quickly, and Luke Thompson get his teeth into the contest (not Suarez style).

Not as sure as everyone else that Thompson will be in. If he does where does that leave Otten if LT takes Whestoff?

I'm guessing two changes:

Out: Rutten & Mackay
In: Crouch & Lynch

Talia and Otten to Schulz and Westhoff.

Pods swings back if they are struggling.

Makes us a "quicker" team by having one less big as Lynch can cover the ground.

You don't play Crouch and that's 2 weeks without footy and Lynch wouldn't bode well for his match day fitness as well. Just play them, surely can't do any worse than the spuds who are filling their spots.

Why not we're playing Dangerfield in the centre every week and he's been injured for about the last seven games - shit might as well play NVB and give that Henstchel lad a run.

Agreed.

I think the L. Thompson inclusion in the 25 is designed to distract the punters from the stark, simple reality that Rutten has been dropped for Lynch.

I think Pods will play back though.

They aren't injured, they're good enough so just play them

Yep my post was poorly written I was actually agreeing - we continue to play PDanger even though he hobbles around and can't get into top gear an yet we want all the other guys complete a marathon, jump out of a plane then get BOG for the 2's five weeks in a row before they get a gig it's poor player management.

Possible Matchups
Defence - we don't need to bring Luke Thompson in as another tall, as Otten has a good record on Westoff & Talia suited to Schultz. We can swing back Pods or Lynch if needed. IMO, Laird needs to follow the dangerous Gray everywhere on the field like he did pestering Harvey. The tight checking Brown to Wingard as needs to be shut down.

Midfield - Boak always lifts against us & would be the one I would look to shut down with Kerridge. Don't believe Mackay will be risked, so Douglas & Dangerfield to rotate with Sloane through the wings to give us outside run. Leave Thompson, B Crouch & Lyons to do most of the inside work with Kerridge. Pay respect to any Port midfielder getting too much of the ball.

Forwards - need to isolate the player on top. May be Betts, as I'm not sure Port have a good matchup for him. Like to see us isolate Danger too. Make them uncomfortable!

B: Laird, Talia, Brown
F: R Gray, Schultz, Wingard

HB: Smith, Otten, Jaensch
HF: Polec, Westoff, White

C: Sloane, Kerridge, Douglas
C: Cornes, Boak, Monfries

HF: Lynch, Jenkins, Wright
HB: Hombsch, Trengove, Broadbent

F: Betts, Walker, Dangerfield
B: Impy, Carlile, Jonas

R: Jacobs, B Crouch, S Thompson
R: Lobbe, Wines, Ebert

I: Podsiadly, Reilly, Lyons, Martin (sub)
I: Harlett, Young, Pittard, Mitchell (sub)

E: Mackay (inj), Porplyzia, L Thompson
E: S Gray, Logan, Cassisi

What rubbish.

You are still living in the 1970's with Michael tuck playing 100 reserves games. Times change and you serve your apprenticeship on a flank or pocket these days.

Well Thommo has admitted that they need to win this one if they want to stay near the hunt.

If they lose, hopefully they can bring themselves to admit the season is done and it's time to bring in the Atkins, Crouches, Siggins, CEY types in.

Agree 100% with this thought. My only concern is Monfries. Even at Essendon always stood up and played better against us for taking Meesen over him.

MJ on Monfries? They can give each other lip!

Siggins is a looooong way off

At what point does Charlie's groin start to get concerning? It'd be a shame if this became a continually hampering thing for him.

Same.

Out: Rutten & Mackay/Martin (depending on Mackay's health)
In: Crouch & Lynch

Tell you what. I like the Marngrook footy show. But god they can get the facts wrong a lot. According to them we only just got over the line against the Kangaroos o_O:confused::rolleyes::drunk:
