Opinion Changes for the Pies

They were kicked down his throat.

Hurn was s**t, but doesn't deserve to be dropped.

Correct positioning isn't shittiness. Also my point was more aimed at effort. He was throwing himself around a fair bit first quarter. Not saying he was bog just not sure why he's singled out

Redden is a strange one for me. Way too good for the WAFL, but not good enough for the AFL, what gives? Seems to be between the ears for the guy.

In: NN, Sheed, Mcginnity.
Out: Redden, Wellingham, Giles.

Who plays back in place of Wellers?

Correct positioning was being in the defensive 50 given how poor Melbourne were kicking it.

He did try his best to make amends for his poor performance. I'm not saying he's to be dropped at all, but he was bad.
And has had an average year.

Hurn should be an AA player - but he's nowhere near it.

I really want Sheed to come back in irrespective of his numbers, we need an inside accumulator for foil for Priddis and to free Shuey up a touch. Redden and Hutchings just haven't produced enough.

Out: Giles, Duggan
In: Tunbridge, Sheed

Sheppard MacKenzie McGovern
Hurn Barrass Wellingham
Gaff Priddis Masten
Lecras Darling Yeo
Cripps Kennedy Hill

Ruck: Lycett Shuey Redden
Int: Tunbridge Sheed Butler Nelson

Logic here is simple. Lycett rucks big minutes, McGovern acts as foil and Yeo goes back to play his role for those short periods. Tunbridge plays forward for the whole game allowing Simpson some versatility with Hill and LeCras.

Alternative is we bring in Schofield and then play McGovern in a Ruck/ utility role.

mistaken.

In: NN, Sheed, Shoey
Out: Redden, Wellingham, Giles.

All of Gov/EMac/Barrass/Schoey in the backline, with only Shep/Hurn/Butler to play on the smalls? Think the balance is out there.

If Wellers misses I think one of Ellis or Cole has to replace him.

I would like to see this team either this week or in the derby.

Duggan played mostly as a flanker in his junior days and if he isn't in the middle he should be back in defence. He will also get a bit more confidence getting a more of the ball in the backline. Another good ball user in defence would be excellent. A midfield of Priddis, shuey, sheed looks solid and duggan, nelson, yeo and wellingham rotating through there makes it even stronger. With Masten and Gaff being great runner i think we can afford to go with the 2 specialist wingers. Surely Karpany, hill, duggan and lecras (if really needed) will give them a chop out. Karpany's form should be rewarded and for the first time in a long time we have a specialist HFF/winger. It could also mean that we can use less of lecca in the middle.

lack of preseason after 2 surgeries in the preseason. needs to spend the rest of the year for ep. He is more likely to get worse than better while in the seniors. Look at Darling this time last year. After no preseason darlings form dropped off a cliff. By playing redden for ep for the rest of the year, it will make him hungry to bounce back next season. Also if an injury arises he will have had handful of good wafl form already in the back and a bit more fire in the belly.

It seems like our best 19 is fairly well sorted.

Hurn Barrass/Mackenzie Schofield
Sheppard McGovern Wellingham
Masten Priddis Gaff
LeCras Darling Hill
Cripps Kennedy Lycett

Lycett Yeo Shuey

Butler ? ? ?

It would be nice if three blokes from this group stand up and really start impacting games:

Sheed
Jetta
Redden
Duggan
Nelson
Hutchings

Sheed should be able to, just need a couple more. And probably need the other two to be one inside player and one outside player. I don't think I'll ever give up hope that Jetta can turn things around.

Is NN a chance this week or will we just wait until the derby?

From Simmo on Seven tonight: He's a chance, he's put his hands up and he's ticking all the boxes so far. It depends how he gets through training this week. If the sports science guys give him the thumbs up then I think he'll play.

Naitanui in for Giles, as long as there's absolutely no chance he'll munt his Achilles any further.
Sheed in for Redden.
Duggan and Nelson to take turns following Pendlebury around all afternoon. It's fine if they only get ten touches each, as long as their 1000 word report "What We Learned About Midfielding Good" is on Old Man Simpson's desk 9am Monday.

Cripps is probably for his tiny bump on Gawn.

Do you think Hurn is un-droppable ? And in fantastic form?

I'd say if he wasn't captain we would be having more of a hard look at his performance.
Hurn has been poor . Worse...he doesnt put his head over the ball. Hes a play watcher.Soft

Bit late to the party but
Banfield>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>50ft of crap>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hutchings.

Hutchings would be the second worst player to play 50 games for us.

The fact that him and mcginnity are on our list and still get game above our kids just shows how bad our recruiting of midfielders have been.
Christ..best post of all time. Our recruiting has been shiteful since mid 2000s. If we were Spud farmers wce would be king!!
Love this post.
And ...wtf are people banging on about Banfield v Hutchings...both sweet potatoes!!!
