Yep, if they run him at 110% for the entire session and he pull up fine he plays. You run him until he can't run anymore.

Still seems odd with McGovern. I’m no doctor but either he’s got a hamstring injury or he hasn’t. Scans came back all clear. Like they say there’s no such thing as a 1 week hamstring injury

Lever missed one as a precaution during the year from memory. Or someone else, but someone definitely did.

Gov would want to be 100% ok to push Otto out. Otto played well in the Prelim.

But as I said last week, Otto does play well first up then fades out into his second and third games.

Would probably have to go Gov and Otto unlucky to miss out.

How many black cats has Otto had grow bus path in his life time. His career has been marred by bad luck.

he wouldn't played in a prelim if not for injuries to Smith and Gov

The way I see it is having Otten up forward will stretch Richmonds defence. They just don't have the key position defenders to man up on our forwards if we give them enough supply.

It will also force Rance to be more accountable.

The query will be our defence. Potentially with Talia, Hartigan and Lever we could be too top heavy, however this is how I see it:

Talia - Reiwoldt
Hartigan - Caddy/Martin
Lever - spare defender

Laird, Brown, Mackay and Kelly take the smalls.

I actually think this works massively in our favour. They don't have a tall Lever has to worry about, this means he will be free to intercept away. What he needs to be careful of is if he tries to play on they will run him down. So it's mark and kick all day.

Richmond will struggle to kick a score, just as they did in the first half of both finals. The difference is Geelong and GWS couldn't score and we do that better than anyone.
Jake lever norm smith medallist.

Martin has to be tagged and tagged hard. He is the one player on their team that can win them the game.
Good post.
Not sure about tagging DM. By whom? Someone niggly like Knight? Seeds? --- has the pace to go with Martin, maybe?
I hope the boys are being given anti-fend lessons by someone at training. Beating Martin's fend would do the trick, since it gets him both time and space. Anyone in here got any anti-fend clues?

One interesting thing to consider was how well Toby Greene was negated yesterday. In terms of running to find space he's not only an elite gut runner, but extremely cunning, but Nathan Broad somehow blanketed him, so I don't know what that means for our smalls.
Very astute point.
I saw that Greene was nullified, but didn't know by whom.

I don't think they'll tag Dustin, just like they didn't tag danger. They will send Knight to cotchin though.
Cotchin burns the ball more than most. Martin is the real threat. I'd love Knight to hang off him when he's in the middle and test out Dusty's sore ribs. Hartigan to Martin when he moves forward.

If he does that in a winning team he can go home...but of course his trade price should be even higher!

I would love Lever to win the Norm Smith, he is 100% leaving and his trade price will be two 1sts in that case. Might even lead to a bidding frenzy too.

Martin didn't do a hell of a lot in the middle, it's when he went forward that he did the damage and lifted them.

So if we can tag him, they will send him forward and then Hartigan takes him.

Who is going to tag him? I feel Knight won't be strong enough.

Plus.. doesn't deserve to miss for that anyway
Agreed with your good post, except for that.
Watch his right arm. He tucks it under to brace his shoulder for the hit. It's a really good, disguised, illegal hit.
"Going for the ball" is bullshit. If he was going for the ball both hands would be reaching for the ball.

Cotchin will get off - he's all good if the AFL determines he was contesting the ball and had no alternative, which they are likely to argue. He could have easily chosen to tackle Shiel but the AFL will ignore that.

Just saw the Cotchin hit in slo-mo Ch9.
First impact is with the corner of Cotchin's braced shoulder (arm under, not reaching for the ball) to the other bloke's left chin.

If the MRP is concerned about point of impact and consequence of impact, Cotchin's out.

Is it fitness?
Looks like he's carrying some kind of niggle. Must be something that Pykey knows about because he rested Greenwood twice.

He may well be carrying something but fitness is also one of his major weaknesses, which is understandable given his background.

That's why he has been rested and has had limited TOG in many of his games this season as he becomes a liability in the last parts of games.

Once that fitness bank builds up...look out!!!

We'll go in unchanged.

Don Pyke all but admitted Gov won't be right to play, and he's not going to make any unforced changes.

Gov would have to run at full pace on Wednesday and full training drills to even be remotely considered.

He tears his hamstring during a game especially early or when its in the balance, we potentially lose.
