Yeah Viney was awful for the first 5 games then good the last three he played. I'm concerned about team balance but his form pre injury was fine.
If i'm being optimistic is that he continues doing a good job tagging and therefore not interfering with the midfield. Would still rather him do a defensive forward role and stay away from from the midfield

The midfield in the last few weeks has been the most balanced that I have ever seen. As much as I love Viney, we need Laurie or Henderson more. Keep Viney for KB. At least have him play for Casey against the Swans this week.

We have enough inside bulls.

I'm not saying I want Viney in the midfield but I'm conceding that it's probably likely, therefore if it's going to happen I'm hoping it doesn't affect the midfield balance as his focus has been to be a tagger and so he'll more or less keeping out of the way.

Where players are named in a squad isn’t definitive but is often suggestive, and Viney is named as a starting mid.

The extended bench is McVee, Turner, Laurie, Rivers, Adams, Sharp, Johnson and Henderson.

You’d think McVee, Rivers and Turner are all locks. Sharp was effective as the sub so he likely stays in that role. Johnson almost must play as a relief ruck.

That leaves Laurie, Adams and Henderson as the emergencies.

If that’s how it plays out then it’s just Viney in for Spargo.

Forecast is a high of 20 and a very low chance of rain so nothing in the weather that would suggest going smaller or needing more runners.

Adams this week’s perplexing squad inclusion after Culley last week.

Especially when you consider Tmac isn’t in the squad. Interesting.
I'm genuinely wondering if we're going to play him as a forward in the VFL.

Not with JVR, Cream and the Magician already there. Not to mention Verrall swinging forward at times.
They've thrown players around at Casey in the past to give different guys time up forward. Jeffo was playing in the backline only a few weeks ago.

Sure, but think that was to try and get him into form for playing forward. I don't think, after all 3 playing well (albeit against poor oppo) last week they'll add in another tall into the forward mix this week.

Viney got 4 coaches votes in the last game he played.

At least make your trolling moderately convincing.

You’re champing at him getting his only 4 votes for the season against a undermanned West Coast who hadn’t won a match for the season.

Bloke throws out our team balance, can’t hit the side of a barn and goes missing against any decent opposition. It’s time to brood the youth instead of gifting our ageing plodders games.

Modern game can’t fit both him and Oliver in the same team.

Your point was 'he was out of form before injury'. He had 4 coaches votes in the last game he played. Now you're changing your argument apparently. Not new from you.

Also I don't really see anyone arguing we must rush him back? Everyone is concerned about team balance, but you can't just make things up to suit that argument.

Yep most post are concerned about Viney ruining team balance no doubt, whether Viney was in form or not before injury is a completely different argument.

Definitely concerning for Viney, but thankfully the team’s better form if late makes it easier to take things with extra precaution.

Onto more immediate matters, it should now be between Laurie and Henderson to replace Spargo.

I think Laurie has more upside, his dare I say it laser kicking when given a bit of space is suited for the current game plan.

Yeah I hate speculating but you've really got to wonder if he'd be seriously considering his own future now. Love the guy to bits and he has smashed his body for us, but if it is this bad I wouldn't blame him at all for pulling the pin.
I don't know enough about this stuff but at least he and the club are taking every precaution with this. If he has to go before the medical panel then we'll know he's in trouble.
