When you have Hamill, Jones, Brown and Smith down back why is there a need for Mackay? Surely we have enough run and carry in the team. 11 kicks and 3 handballs 2 tackles. Makes no sense unless they are trying to make the team weaker on purpose which would be disappointing if that's the case.

You're ignoring how well he trains...

Worrell in for Mackay. Worrell has been an emergency for the last 5 weeks - every other emergency in that timeframe has gotten a game. Surely it's time. Doedee is starting took demoralized with what they're doing to him.

Frampton out for a player who can get more Champion Data points than an unused medical sub. Shouldn't be too hard.

The one tall defensive set-up is utterly bizarre. We have seen, repeatedly, that it doesn't work. We are losing games (in part) because of this. Yet we continue with it, like we have cracked a code no-one else even knew existed.

Meanwhile, our out of contract, future Captain and one of our most influential players, is having his game destroyed by this structure. If we were trying to deliberately minimise his impact, this would be the perfect plan. So is it incompetence or deliberate?

It feels like even incompetent coaches would have recognised the structure doesn't work by now.

To be fair, a LOT of teams have been going with slightly smaller and more mobile defenders.

The idea is that slightly smaller but athletic defenders have the leap to counter the extra size, and offer more going the other way.

I think, for us, it hasn't worked.

Has to be tanking.

I can understand going for two tall defenders rather than 3. But 1? When you know your opponent has 3 tall forwards? It's just dumb.
We have also seen that it doesn't work. So why are we still doing it?

Will be an interesting week in terms of selection, as not a lot of players did much wrong on the weekend.

If McHenry comes straight back in, and i think he should, then i don't think there's room for both O'Connor and Berry, as Berry will likely move back for more midfield minutes. Despite being two very different inside mids, at the moment it appears as if their number 1 weapon is tackling pressure. Berry has the runs on the board, so as much as i'd like to get more time into O'Connor, it's probably him that makes way, or they rest Berry.

(BTW, absolutely astonished to find out that ROC only played 56% game time, they're some ripper stats for the time he was on!)

Changes for me:

Out:
- Mackay
- Frampton
- O'Connor/Berry

In:
- Worrell/Murray
- Tex
- McHenry

You would think Nicks having to make that move would open his eyes up to needing that genuine second KPD.

Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

Nicks: "Scottie, we need to move Doedee off Darling, who have we got?"
Burns: "Only Kelly"
Nicks: "Oh feck, who's our other key defender?"
Burns: "We haven't been playing one in 7 of the 9 games so far"
Nicks: "oh, really? Who knew that!"

ALL OF THE BIG FOOTY ADELAIDE BOARD FFS!!!!!

If he was so good why didn't he finish in our top 10 BnF in such a horrendous season ?
He did, on a votes-per-game basis. However, he only played 10 of 17 games, so his cumulative total wasn't high enough to put him in the top-10 overall.

Logic says that there are two obvious changes:
IN: Walker, Tall Defender (Worrell/McAsey/Murray - take your pick)
OUT: Frampton, Mackay

McHenry could also return, subject to concussion protocols. Whoever is dropped for him will have every right to feel aggrieved. The most likely candidates are O'Connor & Jones, neither of whom deserve to be dropped.

Yes, you would think that.
You do.
I do, and just about every other poster in here has been screaming out for a 2nd KPD, especially when we all predicted WCE's four talls would maul us, which they did.
So, why is Nicks sticking to some things that clearly do not work:
--- only one KPD?
--- Frampton's (hopeful? calculated? wishful-thinking?) re-selection when he has shown NO ability for AFL level footy?
--- Mackay's selection against his mediocre performances?? I mean, if we're going to lose anyway, might as well try some new blood. I'd expect McAsey and Worrell to perform at least as blandly (and maybe better, but in different roles) than Mackay.

Either Nicks is trying something that none of the rest of us can see, or
he's tanking, or
he's not the man for the job.
I dread finding out after another couple of years that it's the latter.

It won't be Jones. Even though we got murdered by their KPF's our run out of the back-line looked way better with Jones in the team.

It'll be one of O'Connor or Berry that comes out. Hately is getting a massive reality check here with 2 new players currently ahead of him in the "inside Mid' role. No way Sloane, Laird or Keays make way...

Worrell and Murray are both a similar height, but both also have different weapons. To me Murray plays slightly taller, and from what I've seen seems to read the ball very well in the air. Worrell for me provides run as well as being able to man-mark.

Personally i would go with Worrell if we're dropping DMmac, as at least some of his run will be compensated for, and we need to know if he can be KPD lite.

I can't see them dropping Berry, so it will probably be O'Connor - which is a pity, as he deserves a 2nd game on debut. Jones & O'Connor were the last players in, so I figured that one of them would be the first one out, making way for McHenry.

All week I thought we'd bring in McAsey because it would be suicide going into a game against the Eagles with Darling, Kennedy and Allen with only 1 KPD.

Yet we did it and in the words of Kern you get what you deserve.

This was another massive selection blunder, sadly they're becoming all too familiar this year.
MaCasey would have been ragdolled by Darling. We needed a Hartigan to run into him blindly. How far away is Talia?
