If that's the case we'd have lost with Jordy playing too.A defence of Talia, Hartigan, Kelly, Mackay and Brown?
Mark it down as a loss

Well, it was the same names against Geelong except for Butts over Talia, and Geelong are a significantly better forward line. How could it be worse?
Hartigan, Brown and Mackay all had good games last week too.
If that defense can compete against Geelong it can definitely compete against the Hawks, it’s just a matter of mindset. If that's the case we'd have lost with Jordy playing too.

Yes of course we do, but it won't impact whether we win or lose tomorrow night. Hawthorn aren't that good. It's a slow, lumbering defence with poor disposal and few attacking abilities.
Mackay and Hartigan won't repeat their season best games, you can pencil that in, especially with Talia replacing Hartigan's role.
It's the exact mix of players that has repeatedly failed. We need guys like Butts, Worrell, McPherson, Hamill in the mix. Returning to failed structures is not the path to success
Again, it’s barely different to last week and there is every indication Hamill will come back in this week, unless they’re wanting to be conservative with his concussion. McPherson was due back for the Giants game, Butts is injured. It's a slow, lumbering defence with poor disposal and few attacking abilities.

Brown did not. Average at best. He has been well below standard this year.Well, it was the same names against Geelong except for Butts over Talia, and Geelong are a significantly better forward line. How could it be worse?

I thought he was fine but I agree has been fairly average this year. I assume he will get the Breust matchup.Brown did not. Average at best. He has been well below standard this year.

It’s really Worrell that I would like to see for a couple of games this season, but his inclusion won’t be making a difference to our fortunes against the Hawks.

I was pretty happy with what I heard from Nicks, right up until the end. Then it went pear shaped.
Nicks has basically confirmed that our midfield is going to be M Crouch, B Crouch, Sloane and Laird. FFS. Have we learnt nothing?
If this is the midfield getting most of the minutes, I sincerely hope we don't win a game this year. At some stage the penny has to drop that this group is not the midfield we need.
The worst thing that can happen is we roll out that midfield, get a win, celebrate it and think it's the way of the future. Then we start 2021, roll out the same group and it takes us a good 7 weeks before we realise it might not work. Meanwhile we will have wasted another batch of games and development for the kids.
It is staggering how dumb we are.
Oh... dont worry now, at any moment its all going to click and the 2017 form is gonna come flooding back and we’ll be in contention for the premiership again with the likes of mookay, sloane, tex, kelly, talia, crouch’s etc still there!..I was pretty happy with what I heard from Nicks, right up until the end. Again, look at the respective midfields both teams played against last week.Hawthorn have averaged 40 inside 50s the last 3 weeks. We averaged 30.
If the game is being played in our back half, which it almost certainly will, that defence will see us struggle to score because we have so many guys that can't move the football. Only had 28 inside 50s last week
Again, look at the respective midfields both teams played against last week.
If we only have 28 i50s there's barely a defence in the league that will hold up.
It is essentially the same as last week, Butts for Talia makes it better.Hawthorn had 39 i50s against Port and 47 against West Coast within their last 3 matches
We had 28 against Geelong. Only managed 36 against the star studded midfield of North Melbourne a few weeks back.
The only time we've looked good this season is when we've been able to generate quick movement out of defence. The side we are set to select won't allow that to happen
Talia will be better than Butts was, so it negates that somewhat. Plus Hawthorns forwardline is much less talented than Geelongs. It's the same players, but it won't be the same performance unless Hartigan and Mackay back up season best games (they won't)

We are also playing against a MUCH weaker defence.

Worpel ??Keays to Mitchell...

Not at the coalface he hasn't, clearances is where the game will be won or lost.Wouldn't bother, Worpel has been more damaging
