A miracle run? Lol. That’s obviously been this clubs motto the last two dozen years.
We might get lucky with injuries which didn't go our way a few times we contend for the premiership, you got to be in it to win it. No-one has done it from 8th but clearly our best football has shown we are good enough to compete with this year's top team but somehow we can't keep the standards for the entire game, we might find our mojo back in the finals when Pyke says it's his last finals campaign with the playing group and Campo says it's his last season as he is leaving for Carlton's senior coaching job.....

I wonder how the other teams in the VFL/NEAFL/WAFL are choosing which players are selected then?
Well the VFL’s totally different as they play against AFL listed teams more often than not, you can actually judge players against those systems.

You would hope the club would be able to make calls on players that they train and coach all week, instead of waiting for a 19 year old to kick bags of goals at suburban grounds week in week out in our SANFL system.

I tell you what, if we win the flag this year we will have it taken away due to match fixing.

Yes the other teams inside the 8 have had some nightmare games and some as bad as us..... but we are nowhere near it.

Dumb to drop Eddie for this game. He would’ve fired up v Carlton.

I also think Stengle would learn so much more playing alongside Eddie plus Eddie would’ve found more freedom with spurts higher up the ground.

Win win...except we have a dumb selection panel with no feel for the game following a robotic structure

I’m actually ok with the changes

Otten at least is flexible in an inflexible game plan
Keefy was looking out of sorts
Greenwood really has done SFA and while I love Eddie, he can’t get near it !

I’ll let myself out now

We need more.players with aggression.

We are a club of nice guys.

Apart from fog who has the grit and aggression to start on someone and get in their heads. I reckon McHenry has it but not seen enough.

That should be our main targets.

Really hoping they rest Tex and see fog rampage and get everyone up and about.

Tend to agree. We also need to see a proper game with 3 smalls to see how it balances.

Also conservative at selection. Don is gonna get burnt

you just know after this game all the oldies will be brought back for our run to finals.

we only drop players as gestures. for example betts, if he stinks it up we still recall him citing improved defensive pressure. douglas will come back in for experience and leadership, otten is back in for structure, mackay stays in for running patterns etc.

Totally agree

After the GC game I wanted Stengle left in the side for the rest of the year to play alongside Eddie.

It's obvious that Betts has struggled after Cameron left. Whether it's age catching up to him or the increased pressure on him without Cameron in the side is unknown, but by playing them both together would have answered a few questions about Eddie's future and also given Stengle the chance to learn from the master.

Another dumb move and missed opportunity from the idiots in charge.

In isolation they aren't. Probably our 3 best performed SANFL players all year.

But it's still an opportunity missed in some senses.
Addresses none of our issues.

1. Our midfield is slow. We bring in a slow midfielder.

2. Our forwards lay one tackle between them. We bring in a forward with no defensive side.

3. Andy Otten. At the G. For old times sake.

Going by these selections it would appear PYKE must agree with me in that our stocks of quality in the 22 and under is very limited.

Will PYKE last another 12 months?
