Round 1 against the Roos in 2016 I think. VB favoured instead, dropped next week and played 2 more totally wasteful games.
Thanks I just remembered a tall being omitted and it was a blunder as it has since been pointed out
Thought it was very relevant to future inclusions

Yeah. I don't think anyone here agreed with the selection for that game!

On the other hand, I don't see the upcoming game in the same light. GWS aren't going to play the four talls, and Worrell coming in for Hamill
should do enough to redress any height problems, even if by coincidence only.

There were many that did.

Yep. Except for the injury sub. Even if they arent activated...they cant play SANFL. What a joke that is.
Well that's where both Port and us should get together and put big pressure on the SANFL through John Olsen and Steven Marshall?

I am not sure what you mean by development
He doesn’t seem a vocal - instructing player
I’m not being over critical here but just doesn’t seem to have the leadership qualities
Work ethic, He is also vocal at the SANFL level from the games I have seen. he constantly running up to players giving them a back slap and a gee up.

Are you sure?

I thought it was only if there WERE activated.

Actually you are right. If they are not activated then they look like they can play. If they play even one minute then its too bad....go run laps instead of play SANFL

Many people assume that experience and leadership are exactly the same thing. If you're experienced you simply must be a leader. Makes me wonder if AdV was ever actually in the military as he claims.
Just curious you ever see any SANFL games, live or do you take a pop shot from the desk,
Never said he was in the side as a leader, mention I believe he has value in assisting the development of the kids.

As for your last part, I was in the military and serve my country overseas.

Does anyone remember a game where we went in very lean for talls in defence
We omitted Hartigan at the time I think
My memory isn’t all that precise but it was huge mistake I think by Pyke at the time
Think it was against the Kangaroos.

Whoever Talia was matched up on dragged him away & left it open for other talls... similar to Clarkson playing through Doedee last week.

Looks like Berry back in this week and Luke Brown may be out along with Hamill according to channel 9 news.

Why am I getting the sinking feeling that Dmac is back.

Nothing could match Massie on Franklin.

Nothing can beat that, Craig was very stubborn in his thinking. Massie beat Franklin earlier in the season on a very wet day and Craig just completely ignored that contextual factor. Craig often ignored contextual factors while coach, one of his major failings. I remember in 2011 when a reporter said we hadn't beaten anyone good and Craig listed off Gold Coast and a couple of other completely shit teams as if they were good opponents, and he meant it to with the clear indignation at the reporters remark. In his mind a win is a win regardless of the opponent, completely garbage thinking.

Round 1 vs North Melbourne, 2016

Picked Van Berlo instead of Hartigan. Played Talia, Lever and Cheney as our tall defense. North's three talls kicked 7 goals and we lost by 10 points. Van Berlo had 9 touches and was dropped for Hartigan the following week (he retired 2 games later). We missed the top 4 that year by 1 game.

Yes I still remember this because it was one of the stupidest selection calls I can ever remember.

You have an insanely good memory.

And we've kept up the exact same philosophy to this day.

I get why people want to bring another tall defender into the team, given the way Butts struggled to do it all on his own last week. But why are so many people keen to bring in 2 talls - I've seen many permutations of McAsey/Worrell/Murray, usually with 2 of them selected.

McAsey is listed at 197cm, Worrell at 195cm, and Murray 195cm. All are genuine KPD height.

Surely having Butts + 2x KPD would make our defence too tall and immobile, just as playing all of Walker/Fogarty/Lynch/Frampton did at the other end of the ground.

I'm expecting only one change in defence this week - Hamill (inj) replaced by Murray. That fixes our height problem, but doesn't make us too tall. Murray seems to be preferred over Worrell & McAsey right now, having played 1 game and been sub for 2 more.
You were also confident not all of Fog/Thilthorpe/Himm would be selected last week

Now I’m not saying that was the right decision, but bringing in Worrell/McAsey is by no means out of the question like you say

Why am I getting the sinking feeling that Dmac is back.
Probably the only spot he could play TBH. We are very light on for small defenders and Brown is not in good form.

I wonder if Latchford might be a midseason draft option.

Mackay and Murray listed as Out (AFL) in the SANFL team. McAsey named, Pedlar out injured.

Worrell and Jones not named but also not listed as outs.

Ah ****.
