Its a worry that Worrell cant get a look in with no Hamill and no Brown.....whose spot does he take if not those guys? Kelly or Dudes I guess but sheesh.
Worrell is 195cm tall. Hamill & Brown are listed at 186cm & 181cm respectively. Worrell isn't replacing either of these players - he's competing against McAsey, Butts & Murray for one of the 2x KPD positions available. This week he lost out to Murray, as he has all season so far.

Irrational hissy fit, much?

Time to accept that Fogarty just isn't as good as you hope & wish that he would be.

You only have to get the ball in his hands within 55m half a dozen times per game and he fulfills his role.

So who should we be looking at when we as a team can't make this happen?

I agree, at this point in our rebuild - we should be focusing on developing how we want to play and how we want to get to a flag. Now is not the right time to be chopping and changing from week to week, based on the opposition - as winning and losing games right now is not important.
Looks like it’s apricot slice driven to go 4 and 3 and keeping the sponsorship happy. Development of our future first 22 is being hampered.

He has slim down from last year and will continue to do after another preseason. He will come back in the team as a forward. Really it’s him or Himmelberg in future weeks as Thilthorpe can pinch hit in the ruck.

I thought Thilthorpe could ruck?

He doesnt really play as a KPD though does he? More intercepting and rebounding. I think its likely Kelly that he needs to replace. Dudes not going anywhere unless ... you know. Touch wood.

Because the kid has talent and is a natural footballer which is something AFC lacks. We have simply failed to utilise or get the best return on him in any sort of effective manner. Another waste of a decent draft pick to boot.
Yes, he has talent - but after 3 years in the system he's still carrying 5-10kg too much muscle bulk, which means that he's unable to go anywhere close to living up to that potential. That's partly on the club, but mostly it's on him.

The club has tried him in multiple roles, and he's failed in all of them. At some point the club has to bite the bullet and accept that the sunk cost is lost.

Yet Worrell plays more like Doedee in defence and he's not replacing him unless injury intervenes....Worrell I doubt will ever be a lock down KPD, either he'll play the 3rd tall in defence or even a 3rd tall forward , maybe even the tall winger in similar vein to Isaac Smith.

He wasn't doing much in the SANFL before we selected him. So why did we? And why then did our selection criteria change to be performance based after a couple of weeks? Why are we chopping and changing him around?

And most of all: is this what a team should do to develop players?
Probably giving him experience against AFL bodies. Will be better from the experience. Just need to find the ball 9-10 times more as he uses the ball well.

Power will have him in a second. Epoch and Kane want him to not fit so they can get the easy grab. We just don’t have the system where he can fit yet. It’s coming.

Nah I'm not willing to accept he's failed as a Fwd when he hasn't been given enough of a crack.

So are you saying he can't find his own ball or that he requires silver service to succeed?

And yet you continue to irrationally defend the club.

Enjoy watching Mackay on the weekend - what a thrill for you.
Who else do you propose they select, to fill the positions vacated by the two small defenders? Murray is replacing one, fixing the structural failure which Hawthorn exposed last week. Which small defender-type player do we have in the SANFL, let alone one which is actually in moderately good SANFL form?

Mackay wouldn't be playing this week if either of Hamill or Brown were available - but guess what, beggars can't be choosers. Neither are available, and we've run out of small defender-type players in the SANFL to replace them. Is it ideal that he's playing? Hell, no. I'd much rather see Brown or Hamill out there. I just don't see that they have any other options this week.

I'm not convinced Talia will be back until the very end of the year

Even if he does come back, there should be opportunities to give Worrell and McAsey games as the year progresses. Butts will likely need a rest at some point, and Kelly doesn't need to play every game. Depends on whether we are thinking about the rebuild or are still thinking we're in finals contention.

Very surprised Worrell missed out
Why?

It's the type of selection we have made every single week for the last 15 years

Glad Berry is back in. Murray and Mackay for Hamill and Brown. Not exactly like for like. Why not bring in Worrell who gives you height and rebound and play Murphy down back in Browns spot and bring in Newchurch. Would rather see Newchurch than Mackay.

like I said, Fog will likely be sub I think

I’m honestly fine with Fog out, the thing I’m confused about is how Rowe and McPherson kept their spots (I guess Macca did out of necessity as Brown came out, but sheesh)

We don't rate him as a forward or as a mid. What's left? I think his card has been marked now.
You're right... they don't rate him in either of those positions. That doesn't mean that injuries won't open up further opportunities for him through the season. It also means that Fog is going to be given some very specific instructions about what he needs to do if he's to get back into the side - and hopefully the first instruction is "lose that ****ing weight".
