Having Lycett, Ladhams and Hayes on our list at the end of 2019 was the reason we let Ryder go to the saints, so if Lycett is so fragile we must be pumping games into Sammie when Scotty is absent!Hayes and Lycett in the same team doesn't work. Hayes is a number 1 ruck without the agility to play forward. Hayes' opportunity is to replace Lycett long term. This is the first chance he's had to take his spot due to injury and if Lycett is injured we MUST play Hayes. If we don't, then someone needs to ask Ken what they're seeing internally around Hayes, because externally given what we saw in the SANFL over the last couple years, we'd be crazy not to get as many games into him, as early as possible.

Can Hayes do a job against Goldstein ?
Re watched the game last night, bonner wasn’t as bad as first thought. I can see him surviving. It was a similar game to Mayes, it’s line ball between those two.
Feels like Motlop, georgiades and westhoff are under the most pressure.

I would rest Lycett regardless this week and ensure he is good to go the following week.We need Lycett 100% come finals, give him a break now and let’s see what Sammy Hayes can do against Sydney.
Big question is what about North the following week ? Does Lycett need more then a week ? Can Hayes do a job against Goldstein ?
Have only watched a replay of the first half so far but Bonner impressed me particularly with his foot skills. He's probably the most polarising player on our list. If he could put it all together he would be a star but I have my doubts that will ever happen.
On the issue of depth, Schofield said he was pleased with the output of Kane Farrell and Xavier Duursma, who were omitted from the AFL team on the weekend but competed well in match simulation against Hawthorn.
He said Willem Drew was also good and the trio would be in selection discussions later in the week for Saturday’s game against Sydney alongside players returning from injury including Todd Marshall, Ryan Burton and Connor Rozee.
Agree, but if Houston is playing as a mid, there is no need for both Wines and Rockliff. I would rather an extra outside player (esp if Ladhams is playing as well). Ideally, i am leaving out Rockliff.Duursma 100% has to be back in team for at least 2 games before finals. So much talent still to come in with Duursma, Burton, Marshall, Rozee, Ladhams and Houston all best 22 IMO.
Best team is
FB: D.Byrne-Jones | T.Clurey | T.McKenzie
HB: R.Burton | T.Jonas | H.Hartlett
C: X.Duursma | T.Boak | K.Amon
R: S.Lycett | O.Wines | D.Houston
HF: C.Rozee | T.Marshall | Z.Butters
FF: R.Gray | C.Dixon | B.Woodcock
I: S.Powell-Pepper | T.Rockliff | P.Ladhams | B.Ebert
Woodcocks spot is the one that could go to Motlop or Farrell if they pick up some form going into finals. Ladhams could go out for Georgiades or Westhoff depending if we want to go 2 rucks or not in finals. Apart from that I don’t think there is much more you can change from that team.
Yeah one of my only problems was the pace, but I think we need Houston to play midfield or go back as that extra defender, and come finals Rockliff and Wines are too good to miss out IMO. We could potentially drop Ebert for a quicker player, but his gut running is extremely important as well.Agree, but if Houston is playing as a mid, there is no need for both Wines and Rockliff. Yeah hoping he’ll come straight back in either this week or for the North game.
Yep and that's exactly what the coaches want him to do, take that kick!! I think you are forgetting he also hit those kicks in the windy conditions Saturday which makes them even better. Hasn't played for a month either and looked scratchy early. His spot up to Butters in the 1st qtr was elite. Ease up on him.Bonner's kicks into the corridor were nearly all incredibly high risk
They went past attacking and crossed over into careless
A meter or so off target and they turn into an easy turnover goal every time
Plus he's as physically soft as a marshmallow
I don't see what he brings that's worth persisting with

I can’t understand why he won’t play the kids this year. He has had the chance, perfect games to play Hayes and Bergman, see what they have, give a couple of players a rest before the end of the year. That would be oh so ports. It's turning into the same issue we had with Sam Gray.
Any excuse to play him until the decision is made for him and the player shuffles off from the club.
