Will be interesting to see if Erasmus is in the 23 on Friday.

He deserves to be dropped, but think JLo will keep him in.
Ras was fine, it was his first full game for nearly 2 years and he had 5 score involvements including creating 1 of 9 goals basically by himself.

Give him a run at it and watch him grow into the player we need. Patience will make us prosper.

Funny, that doesnt seem to be the view of quite a few of the media, etc over East who said our team wants for nothing (backs, mids, forwards). It must clearly be the game plan, coaching and players failing to execute or making dumb decisions.

The issue is that our midfield isn't playing.

Our midfield includes Darcy and Young, 2 of the best players in the competition at their respective roles.

Aish is the ideal person to come in for Walker but it seems as though he has fallen out of favour with Longmuir and the selection committee, I have a feeling It will be Worner who comes back into the side.
i just think it's an easy Draper for Walker swap. Walker doesn't really rebound anyways and Draper can defend the smalls, so it's a fairly ideal swap. Probably just be 1 in this week, and it'd likely be whoever the sub is.

Aish just feels like he's physically lost a step. Some on here assert JL has an anti-Aish bias, which is just about the dumbest thing in the world. Brought him over from his previous club. Was never the most athletic, but he had a level of toughness and physicality that waned last season. The contrast between him tagging Clayton Oliver brilliantly in 2022 and his midfield spells once he became sub last year was staggering.

Last night, at a speaking engagement, AP alluded to Chappy and Draper covering oposition smalls now Walker is out.
Good spot for Draper. Not the best use of Chappy’s attributes though. I want him ahead of the footy.

Why does he deserve to be dropped? He had a reasonable game by his standards. Nothing great, but he was better than Banfield, Frederick and Sharp. Johnson was only marginally better. They have been given a free pass to get continuous games. I have my doubts if Erasmus can be an AFL standard player, but I'd like to see a solid block of games to provide the evidence.

Erasmus had 19 pressure acts, only behind our main centre square trio in Jackson, Serong and Brayshaw. We need all the help we can get with our pressure. He's also one of the few players we have who can actually stick a tackle.

He deserves to be dropped just on the basis of the second last goal of the day. Bice started his run with the ball just goal side of the wing with Erasmus on him. Erasmus gave up the chase after just a few steps and Bice took a bounce or two and ended up kicking a goal. It was a pathetic effort by Erasmus.

If we're dropping blokes for one **** effort we wouldn't have had enough players last week after the Cats game.

Time to face facts boys and girls, our list is very average or even below.
Jackson, Treacy, Bolton and Young top footballers, Serong and Brayshaw hard workers, raffle the rest including Pearce because of his history.
It's actually very young and inexperienced which is the main problem.

Erasmus was ok & he was played in a settled role that isn’t foreign to him but it is largely at AFL level. Be nice if he had a small run at it to see if he can excel in the role.

I was watching some show on Fox last night and David King was talking about Ben Hobbs at Essendon.

Basically said, he was an exceptional midfielder in underage footy but has never been good at AFL level but he has never actually got a prolonged look at midfield minutes. He then went on to say how Sam Mitchell done the opposite with Hawks.

We are doing exactly that with MJ and Ras, pure mids with elite midfield abilities sitting on flanks and wings instead of playing in the middle.

Dropping him after one game might not be why he's not an AFL standard player yet but it gives him no chance to get up to the pace of AFL level which at times has looked like his biggest issue.

Making the same mistakes over and over again and expecting different results is just dumb. It's exactly why I gave up on JL 18 months ago (of course this isn't just about Erasmus).

So one bad thing? In that case, someone tell Brayshaw to enjoy Peel, if that's how it works, because he was useless

The trouble for us is they all have one such moment a game and cumulatively it stuffs us up

Out: Freddy

I'm done with him. If you offer nothing around the ground you have to at least nail a set shot from 30m out. What a ****en joke.

Voss gets one chance to redeem himself cause **** bringing Reidy back
Have to agree. Saw some clips on Freddy’s defensive efforts Swans players stepped around him and was able to Center the ball. Freo defence was set up down the line.

Resulted in rapid movement through the corridor and scores at the other end

In my opinion he is not a natural footballer Looks great with ball in hand and he can rely on his athleticism. However putting himself in the right position both offensively and defensively remains a problem

Not a massive Ras fan (his handballing might be the worst I have seen from a "mid") but if we want to see if he can improve we shouldn't be dropping him after one game. Just let him play 2-3 games in a row, if he still looks a step behind drop him when Young is ready to return.

I sit on that wing and while it was a poor look, the main negative it highlighted was his lack of speed. Not his effort. He was cracking in all day and was gassed. He simply got dropped by Bice for speed. He was pointing this out to his teammates and asking for cover, but nothing came. Brayshaw was standing around on the spot. Sharp didn't react. Not sure they could have really done anything except create someone else that was open. But there were others out on their feet as well. Erasmus kept chasing, but was moving in quicksand and just didn't have the legs.

That goal is primarily on Voss's shanked kick, and then Chapman being sucked in to the wrong side and not covering the left foot of Campbell properly. Have to be aware of your opponent's strengths.

The kick from Bice was also a fluke. It had a big hook on it that was sending it right of the goal post, and then at the last second it defied physics and swerved sharply back to the left and snuck through. Look at the goal umpire's movements.
