I am telling Youse, forward line is a bigger problem than the defence.

It's putrid. As per gameday thread, it's all effort and talent based.

Even against Richmond it was getting picked apart. They were just too weak a lineup to exploit is properly.

I can't believe I'm saying this but even Brad Strata managed to coach a functioning forward line.

Was Clarkson out taking a wizz everytime they planned forward strategy at Hawthorn? They appeared to be pretty potent, would've thought he knew what a good attack looks like.

The Richmond game was very even in the first half. They just kicked themselves out of it.

Second half they were what 3 players off with injury. Margin flattered us.

There should be a lot of outs but where do you start.
Powell will come in, they keep him on the bench in the last quarter of a winnable VFL game, people calling for Whitlock to come are kidding themselves he is nowhere near it.
Hardeman must be a no brainer coming in Clarko should make a statement this week and drop LMac or Daniel.

Really, you think 4 KPFs and Xerri is too much of the same

Nah we will win, we love the sterile environment of Marvel

Just a pity with so many Vic based sides we don't play at Marvel that often.

Saints home, * home , Bullies home , but yet we find ourselves interstate for ten games a year .FFS

I especially like the ruckman and main forward can't take a pack mark which leaves you with a geriatric having to work overtime and 10 gamer down on confidence.

You cannot tell me that today's team was the best we could roll out. They are way to comfortable with getting close to good teams and seeing that as proof they are about to break out. Obvious changes are being avoided and some of the players we have that are simply not good enough keep getting exposed the minute the heat goes up.

You could sack the coaching staff and not notice the difference.

Wow wee. Where to start.

In: Goad, George, Goater, Harvey, Hardeman, Whitlock, Mikunda

B: Hardeman Comben Parker
HB: Blamires Dawson Harvey
C:Goater-Wardlaw-McKercher
HF: Curtis-Whitlock-Sheezel
F: George-Larkey-Duursma
R: Goad-O'Sullivan-LDU
I: Xerri-Mikunda-Trembath-Simpkins-Stephen
Did Goater even play, if not why not i wonder? Must be soreness. Seems he' miles away if he didn't play.

The forward line is a complete mess as I have said on Twitter last week. It is too tall so drop Dawson and use either Darling or Trembath as pinchhit in the ruck for Xerri,.

Bring in Cooper or Banch. I would also drop JK. He is a complete spud. I don't even know why he was brought back in. I think it is a much better mix with Banch, Harvey and/or Spargo than JK and Dawson. Harvey plays high half fwd & leads up to the ball which is one of the large issues we have. Darling does it well but he's a tall marking high playing fwd.

Hardeman in for Blamires. The guy has a better kick, drive and much better defensively than milquetoast Blamires..albeit slightly different role.

That is about all to change as not much else can do.

The forward line has no smarts.

It is completely frustrating.

Also does not help when we keep bombing it up there. Part of the issue is how we are moving it up the ground as often we have to dump kick it in when (or where) we kick it. They keep repeating the same crap.

We don't have the King in there being able to jump in the centre of a pack and pluck it out

Darling is smart, experienced and knows his game back to front so he'll always pop up and do some nice things, but lacks pace which is even worse when none of our talls are exceptionally quick anyway. But together that forward line is too slow and lacks pack marking ability aside from Trembath and Duursma floating in front.

Larkey has to lead up, but beyond 40m he struggles so looks for the cheapo out the back more often to keep within his preferred range. Again we have a situation where none are bad players, we just lack a standout to over come poor balance.

Forward line is always congested. Three big forwards and they all run straight to the goal square. Why isn't there separation, with Trembath and Darling leading out to both sides. Who is our forward coach?

Even when we were playing better its been a complete mess the past 3 weeks or so. I can only see this crap from my TV o surely they can from the damn ground.

How the mix is setup is amazing. wtf are we doing...this is basic crap

Usually I lose my shit after games like that. And to be fair, I was losing my shit during it 😂
But after sitting on it for a bit… I actually don’t think it’s “burn it all down” territory.
We got a rude awakening today. Adelaide changed a few things structurally and tactically from what they’d been doing, and honestly, I think we got outcoached for large chunks of the game. It happens. I’m prepared to give that a pass today — but it should still be acknowledged.
What worried me more was how long it took us to respond once the momentum completely shifted. We still look vulnerable when Plan A gets pulled apart and we have to transition quickly to something else defensively. That’s the next step for this group.
But I’m not throwing the baby out with the bathwater either.
A few years ago that becomes a 120-point bloodbath. Instead, as ugly as it was, the boys at least fought late and dragged it back to something semi-respectable. Tiny positive? Yep. Weak positive? Absolutely 😂 But still different to the completely cooked collapses we’ve seen in the past.
Also — and I don’t think this gets spoken about enough — we genuinely seem to struggle on the bigger grounds.
Subiaco exposed us earlier in the year against West Coast too. Even though we only lost that by 10 points, they absolutely dominated us for two quarters. If that had been Adelaide-level quality today, it probably looks exactly like what happened this afternoon.
There’s something there with the wide/open grounds and our defensive setup that needs attention.
And before everyone on here starts launching nukes and demanding we sack everyone, delist half the side and start again… maybe take a breath 😂
We’ve improved. We’re still improving. But we’re also still a young side with holes that good teams will expose from time to time.
Next week will tell us a lot more about where we’re really at.

There are alot of guys we can't shift. Mainly Key Position player, because they don't have a replacement. But guys like Kostanty and Stephens, they have their shot. They are at best middling, and you know that they will fail when the big game pressure hits. Easily replaced. Make the call Clarko.
