I watched the SANFL highlights of that Bays game, are they the goods this season or did we just have a stinker? Or somewhere in between.

The highlights looked very much like 1 way traffic

Bays are playing good football at the moment. Been able to keep and attract some talent and Mark Stone has got them playing tough defensive oriented football with lots of rebound attack and playing right to the final siren, hence coming from behind last week to draw with South.

Crows reserves meanwhile need to do more, you’d think there weren’t any spots up for grabs in the senior team

Seriously think we need to relocate Tom Lynch out of the forward half and onto the wing for a full game. If we are trying to slow our ball movement out of defense we are basically making his 'link man' role completely redundant. It only works when he can run his man off his legs leading up the field, and then getting the ball in the damaging part of the grounds on the return sprints towards goal.

Better off having him play his down and back leading role against their opposition wingman (who tend to be much poorer at manning up compared to a HBF), and giving us another crumbing/marking option up front!

Right now all his elite running and leading is going to waste if we have no intention of moving the ball forward with speed. At least this way we can get something out of his natural running power, while also freeing up a forward line spot for someone more damaging around goals like Stengle, Davis, Gooch, Greenwood or FOG

I have two big issues with that move. Lynch isn't fast enough for an outside midfielder role, nor is that kick long enough for it to work for anything outside of some Embley like shenanigans with a 5-10 minute rotation every now and then. It's a position that you need your most dangerous disposers of a football.
