Laird, Crouch, Kerridge, rutten in.

Would drop Shaw, Henderson, L thompson and whoever else out.

Grigg full game, Would put Lyons sub.
So you would drop 2 tall defenders, neither of whom were as bad as some here would say, and replace them with a guy who got towelled up by an overweight part time footballer (still love the big fella though !!!!). Not to mention the fact that if theres a taller forward setup than ours its the one we play next week

No. Much better we bomb it long to no one in particular. Worked a treat last night.
Sadly they seem to be our only two kick types. The long bomb or the 15m sideways chip.

Can we make Grigg sub for the 5th game in a row?

He actually had a fair bit of the footy given he probably only played a bit over a quarter.

Would like to see him play a full game on Mackay's wing given that he's a likely out.

Ok. So I'm going in to bat for Matty Wright... Again. He was one of our better players last night. Stats almost identical to Rory Sloane but with better disposal efficiency and less clangers. In fact, of the players who got 15 touches or more, only Jaensch had better efficiency and Wright was only one of three Crows players who had no clangers for the night. He also got five free kicks, showing that he was at least willing to get in amongst it.

I think it's a reflex just to put his name up for omission by people who have selective memories of how he actually performed in games. He's not a super player but by no means has he been close to our worst.

I like Wright but as I've said, his decision making has gone backwards. He actively seeks out the short option and has 0 hurt factor. He's the shallowest kick in the side and he's one paced. Would be the perfect cherry on top player in a Hawthorn or a Sydney but in a side already chock full of passengers Matty's left at the bus stop holding the bags.

Must be considered traceable if the right option comes along IMO.

Again, I'm not claiming he is a super damaging player but he plays a role. The whole teams decision making has been suspect this year. Our two best players - Dangerfield and Sloane - being a couple of the worst offenders. As for zero hurt factor, that applies to half our team at the moment. I'm simply saying that Wright hasn't been nearly as bad as people make him out to be.

And I don't quite get how he could be a cherry on top player for the two best teams in the comp but should be the fall guy for a run of the mill team as we are.

OUT
Grigg- just doesnt get enough of it.

11 possessions in a quarter and a half is reasonable considering many didn't get much more than him in a full game (and many had less).

He's gotta play a full game. He uses the ball well by hand and foot, has good vision, can shrug a tackle, and is tough.

He's a player we need to get games into.

Yeah perhaps I was a tad harsh on him. I figure he plays a full game or he drops to the SANFL.

Just on that though, do we think Grigg is the ideal sub ?? Sides have picked 1 player as their designated sub such as NM and the Bullies. Should we head down that path or chop and change each week ??

I actually really liked his game last night. Showed glimpses of what he was promising last year. Time to look at Mackay, Douglas, Wright or maybe even Charlie to wear the vest.

In a way I think its a compliment that Sando keeps giving him the vest. He is clearly rated as best availble to come on, pick up the pace of the game quickly and have an impact.

But enough is enough.

Clearly the fresh legs would have helped, but I thought Grigg's intensity set the tone for our comeback.

Not sure about using CC as the sub though. These small forwards only need five minutes here or there to cut the opposition to pieces, but I don't feel like you can rely on this to happen in one quarter.

Grigg might have done himself a disservice by being so bloody good as the sub last year. And I have to say, I want Grigg in the team right now, but I would be 100% behind him as the sub for our first final (assuming we get one) because he's head and shoulders above anyone on our list for that role.

Jarryd Lyons' SANFL form was never as good as Matt Crouch's form in the past month. Junior has averaged 34.7 disposals, 8 marks and 7.7 clearances in the past 3 weeks. Crouch>Lyons

Big strong body, likes the contest, good skills, good footy brain.

Wet weather football should suit him.

I don't know how anyone who saw that game could say Wright was good. He was ****ing horrible. Slow by foot and mind. This was typified in the second quarter when he had the ball at half forward. Tex had his opponent cold on the lead and of course he didn't see him quick enough. I think he ended up bombing it long in his direction still but by then it was too late. More than replaceable too. Don't know how he gets such a good ride with the coach. He started each quarter on the field over Cameron FFS.

Now now, Wright is a good bloke, sure he might not be that great at footy and he isn't very tall or very fast, but what a great bloke and the best haircut I've ever seen. Plus his girlfriend doesn't have implants so he is my pick every week. #Wrightneversub

I'm sure you would be in a great position to judge. It's not like you're blithely regurgitating stats with no real thought or analysis.

Henderson & Mackay out
Laird and Crouch in

Douglas sub.

Grigg needs a full go at it. Was great. Lyons was excellent in the first half. Crouch needs to come back into the team. Way too early for Kerridge to come back.

It's not like he blasts away kicks inside 50 and in clearances. He is quite skillful believe it or not. How has Lyons outperformed Crouch?
