Changes v Richmond

Yep thinking the same. Whilst Sandi has had some great years for Freo I really believe he is way too predictable and thus easily countered/benefited from in his strengths by opposition. They have worked out how to easily beat him. He offers too little around the ground, is soooooo slow/immobile and easily run-off.

But Lyon's needs to play him and see how he can perform - problem is it's likely to cost games IMO.

2012 figures:
Sandi 9 games, 23 AFLCA votes
Griff 12 games, 0 AFLCA votes
Clarke 13 games, 0 AFLCA votes

Pisses me off that no matter how good a player is, give him a year or two plagued by injuries and watch everyone write him off. Sandi actually started the year pretty well. Losing the clearances was unfairly blamed on him when we had two underdone mids who were playing limited game time while the rest of the mids were adapting to a new game plan and stoppage coach.

Get him in asap so he is ready for finals.

Yep Sandi had one genuinely completely crap game this year vs Hawks but he wasn't alone that day
IMHO it's fanciful to suggest he is not the best ruckman at the club

No actually, just generally interested as I'll be watching the game.

It's a shame that an opposition poster can't post on a team board without DT being brought up.

Should go to Deledio again as he did very well on him at the G this year. Cotchin is almost too good to tag. Picken is one of the best taggers in the comp and Cotch tore him to shreds.

That one wasn't meant as a DT dig, more a throwaway line about what great tagging form Crowls has been in.

That's what I reckon too YM.I'll be pretty pumped seeing sandi, mundy,Barlow, hilly & fyfe setting up at centre bounces and stoppages.

In: Fyfe, Sandi, Mcpharlin

Out: Ibbotson, Bradley, Dawson - not AFL standard, never has been, never will be.

Lyon in presser today stating he will name Fyfe and Sandilands, Mayne also passed fitness test.

Good news it seems. Expecting 3 changes then tonight: Fyfe, Sandi and McPharlin IN.
I'm hoping for Ibbo, Roberton and Bradley OUT.

Hope lower is another in if he's right - he would help out in clearances... so 1 ruck/tall (Kep), 1 KPD (Ibbo/Spurr?), 2 mids to come out (Suban/Neale)

Yeah, I reckon Lower needs to come in, counter Tuck or Martin with his clearance work.

IN: Fyfe, Sandi, McPharlin, Lower
OUT: Suban, Neale, Roberton, Bradley

Agree 100%. Cotchin is in untaggable form.

I'd love to see Cotchin Vs Fyfe.

What about Suban? Surely he'd cop it before Robbo?

Suban may have limited Reilly but we didn't win that matchup. Suban was more poor than the output Adelaide lost in having reduced Reilly's influence.

I agree with you. He only did half of his job and that probably resulted in a net loss. My point was that he was better than Spurr and I still believe that to be the case.

Yeah, I'm not sold on Spurr either. We've got a surfeit of his type.

What type is that?

Spurr can play back, or forward (and potentially mid also). Broughton is the only other small/mid that I can think of that can effectively do that. Mzungu to a degree I guess.

Small back line players I'd agree with... we've got a ton of them, you're right. But he can play in other spots as well. Genuine flexibility is pretty handy.

IN: Fyfe, Sandi, McPharlin
OUT: Suban, Roberton (unlucky), Keplar (unlucky)

Edit: Good point from Sumavich in that Mayne was in the side, so I have removed Mayne as an IN.

Mayne was never an out, so Neale and Mayne are still in.
Agree with the others but I would have Ibbottson out instead of Roberton.

Interesting...

He said Fremantle had some important decisions to make around team balance if Sandilands plays alongside ruckman Jon Griffin, who has been in strong form.

The main point of balance that's lost if Sandi plays forward pocket is defensive pressure. Reckon there's a very good chance that MDB will get a role in the forward line this week to help provide that pressure. Sounds like Kep is out of the team if Sandi's playing.

With MDB out of the midfield it'd be nice to have Lower back in to help with clearances, tackling and contested ball. De Boer's job often seems to be to close down the short receiver before the ball can get out of the clearances.

With him missing I don't know who can pick up this role. Clancee maybe. Barlow, Fyfe and Mundy are all pretty attacking at clearances so I don't reckon it'll fall to them, and I can't think of another guy in the team that's as effective as a tackler as those two that has the fitness to play the role midfield. Spurr possibly??

In:
Sandi
Fyfe
Elvis
(Lower)... would be nice, but think that four changes will likely be too many history of minimal swaps

Out:
Kep
Suban
Ibbo
(Neale)... Robbo to sub.

My 2c

Ins: Fyfe, Sandilands, McPharlin
Out: Suban, Roberton, Neale

I would play Lower also but due to the tigers speed and us going in a bit taller dont think it'll happen..
