"Have you not seen the other poor games he's dished out? I haven't seen a good one yet."

I provided you with a game that Butcher played well in. Another was the last game of the minor round against Glenelg last year.

An Afl game that means something please. We are chasing a flag not waiting for butcher.

Lobbe is a ruckman who can play forward. Redden is a ruckman who can play forward. Redden is a beast who possesses deft tap work, and playing him allows Ryder to spend time forward. And at least Redden would provide a presence whilst forward. Butcher provides practically no presence at all.

Ok, his direct opponent must've racked up a heap on uncontested marks, and Butch not registered any tackles or "pressure acts"

If that's truly what you believe a key forward's role is then good luck to you. Remember when Neil Craig wouldn't play Taylor Walker because the defensive side of his game wasn't up to scratch? Neil Craig was wrong. As a key forward your primary role is to take marks and kick goals. End of story.

He gave a contest, which is more than Neade, who gave up a contest. Maybe 2.

I am aware they are worlds apart in roles and physical stature, but I am going to argue that I'd rather an underperforming tall than an underperforming small. If you continually make the contest, sooner or later the levee will break. I'll back Butch in 2015 based on tonights game. If that changes, I'll call for his head like others already are. We have 22 players out there and I rate them and effort and output and the role they have been given to play, regardless of their measurements.

Out: shit decisions, poor options, lack of effort, and crap shots at goal
In: the standard of football we know we can play.

I'd like to see us stick with Butcher for a bit but not at the expense of structure if Lobbe is back.

Fair point.

Butcher looks better than he has in the past, that's for damn sure. He honestly played better than Jay Schulz who hasn't copped it at all.

I don't have high hopes for Johnny but if he can take the good from that game and do it more often then he looks like he could be serviceable.

Gotta say though, even if Chad was screaming in his ear. Reacting to the ball as though a beehive was flying towards him was pretty ugly to see. Though still not as bad as that blue and orange crap all over my screen that i can only assume Dwayne Russell was responsible for? **** me.

No, I think the notion that the fixture is particularly bad for us is laughable. We play on a Friday night at home in Round 23. That should be a pretty handy advantage when it really matters.
Ummm... Round 23 is flexible scheduling that won't be announced until closer to the round. Every team is currently shown as playing on Friday.

Oops.

Well I think my point still stands. At multiple stages during the year, we'll have the advantage over a side in regard to length of break and travel.

Case inpoint, home showdown.

10 day break coming off a home game versus 8 day break coming off trip to Perth.

So should we tread carefully around Butcher's confidence issues then? C'mon, he's barely played a good game at SANFL level. I'd love nothing more than for Butch to get his shit together but right now he's not and AFL standard footballer. What's more he's fast running out of time to prove he is one. We're in our premiership window and simply don't have time to mollycoddle Butcher and his confidence issues.
I liked this comment and unliked it....just so I can like it again
