Changes v Sydney

Stop making sense MU, don't you know that BF selection policy is based on two criteria.
1. General dislike for player X
2. Whoever had the biggest brain fart of the previous game

Oh crap......sorry about that HKR. You'd reckon I'd know better by now.

How's the Dim Sum? :thumbsu:

Coming onto this board after a bad loss like we had on the weekend is frustrating and possibly should be avoided.
Its hard to believe the people that have been screaming out for years for our club to promote some young exciting players are now seriously calling for Harper, Ziebel, Cunnington and Hansen to be dropped. These kids need to be played every week regardless of how many touches they had the week before. Its about development not wins and losses at the moment. Long term vs short term.
Are our memories so short that we cannot remember the kids that were playing at WCE last year hardly touching the ball and getting belted week after week. and now looking like stars.

PLEASE, PLEASE show some faith in our coach and kids. We have as a young list as there is and in the next few years we will be thankful we stuck with the current course.
The next "Lets drop Hansen, Zeibel or Cunnington" thread I see, I WILL THROW UP!!!!!

I agree with you, but I feel Bon may actually drop one or two kids today, if he feels they're "overdone". It's apparent from his presser from yesterday.

In Total Agreement here!!

No issue with Bon dropping them from a body/medical science point of view to give them a break so their bodies are looked after, but its hard to listen to the constant knee jerk reactions on here some time. The fact is we have really good kids and we need to be patient beacuse the one thing they have in common across all teams is they are inconsistant. We have a good coach with a pretty good list of youngsters. It will not hurst us to finish in the bottom half and get some more kids.

I Richardson is a shoe-in this week. We recruited him as a running back flanker and he should come in for McMahon this week. Loose started the season well, but he's tailed off the last few weeks and there's probably only room for one of him or Pratt because of their lack of pace. Alternatively he may come in for MacMillan as they play a similar role as the winger/half back.

Greenwood is not a sure thing, but I'm confident he'll play. He's the real grunt we've been missing in the middle. I reckon he'll come in for Garlett, who has failed to cement a spot in the 22. Greenwood plays a similar position as an in and under, but he's got the engine and size the Cruize lacks.

Lastly I reckon Pederson should come in for Hansen to reward good VFL form and punish bad form but that's unlikely because Bon seems to have a lot of faith with the Mowman. I don't think that faith is misplaced, but Pederson kicked 8, you have to reward good performances.

So that's:

Out: Garlett, McMahon, Hansen

In: Pederson, Richardson, Greenhead.

agree with all 3 changes but i also want one more change. tarrant in for pratt so that we have the 3 tall men in defence set-up that many of the good teams use. collingwood-reid,tarrant,obrien/maxwell. geelong-scarlett,taylor,lonergan. Hawks-gibson,stratton and gilham when fit. We should also adopt the 3 tall defense Tarrant,Thompson, grima/delaney.

FB:Rawlings Delaney Thompson
HB:Firrito Tarrant Macmillan

All I know is Goodes will be licking his lips in anticipation of this match, he loves playing us. Absolutely loves it!

Im hoping he'll play forward and we can contain his goal output to less than 4, which is massive. If he roams the midfield you just get the feeling we'll be stuck playing Atley or Cunnington on him. Maybe if Hansen's athletic ability is as good as everyone says it is he could run with Goodes for the game, none of our midfielders can contest him in the air.

Could actually provide the opportunity to bring in one of tarrent or pedo to play up forward and stretch their defence further?

I reckon you're right, we need one more tall in that mix, but I think that spot will be filled by Grima when he comes back. I think if we added both Tarrant and Richardson it leaves us a bit inexperienced in the backline. Also, we need someone to play the designated kicker in the backline out of Pratt and McMahon. At the moment I'd say Pratt, but it's pretty borderline.

The bolded bit at the top of your post should be a stickied warning on the NMFC BF page, along with "ENTER AT OWN RISK!"

Thankfully those who say those things are not on the selection committee. Looking forward to watching these guys dominate when they've got the games behind them

yea it doesn't bother me who the 3 talls in defence are because we have many good options. so long as 3 of thompson, grima, delaney, tarrant and pedersen are in our defence i'll be happy. atm grima is injured so i choose tarrant thompson and delaney.
as for the designated kicker i think macmillan is a better option than both pratt and mcmahon plus we can use wells for kick ins if we want.

up forward 2 talls are all we need petrie and hansen/pedersen with edwards in the forward pocket as the medium tall.

i'll be very interested to see how many tall defenders are in the team this week and if it isn't 3 then i'll be unhappy and will have to vent my frustration

Could Richo come in and do a job on Goodes? Has the height and the engine. Could be a goode match-up. Thoughts?

goodes would kill him in the air. i want tarrant in to play on goodes for the same reasons u suggested richo. taz has the height, engine and strength to go with goodes. i want richo on the hbf giving us rebound.

Out Hanson as he needs to get same confrerence back not because he's not any good.
Rawlings out because he turns it over all the time, and Garlett as he is not up to it.

In Greenwood, Pederson, and richardson, all because they our future.

I haven't watched any Sydney games at all this year (or any year for that matter) so 'm not sure of their set up. Will we need three talls down there this week?

thompson would be the thrid tall and the beauty of having a flexible 3rd tall is that they can play on talls or medium talls and provide rebound.

they are bringing johnston in at chf goodes at FF and they have sam reid also.

3 talls in defence should be used every week regardless of opposition. Collingwood and geelong use it to full affect

Spot on. Doesn't get any softer.

These Changes threads are always a cracking read. Particularly after a loss.

I'm toying with the idea of starting a rebel, breakaway weekly thread called - "Proposed Changes Made In A Non-Hysterical Fashion, That Stand An Actual, Realistic Chance Of Happening, And That Don't Involve Posters Just Trotting Out The Names Of The Player (Or Players) That Shit Them The Most".

love it! surfed through this thread basically no one should show next week because apparently there is just cause for all of them to be dropped:rolleyes:

please do not recall anthony though as i have not seen where hes taken apart a vfl game yet, damn i just did it myself

I want Lachie to get some confidence in the 2's and Pedo deserves another go so I think that's a pretty straight forward change. I think Lachie's the long term option but kicking some goals at a lower level would be good for him.

Levi in for Cruize because he's a better midfielder. Hopefully he's had long enough in the 2's to get himself right. I don't want Anthony to be the EMG, he has to play some form of footy. I'd prefer he dominated the 2's for another week.

I don't really see the point in leaving Richo in the 2's. We know he's a gun playing for NB. We need to find out if he can make it at AFL level. McMahon should have a spell in the 2nds I think.

So that's:

Pretty hard to do so being sub every week, then dropped for no reason.

Not as many changes as I thought there would be, with Cruize out and Harper being rested. Disappointing for Cruize, but loved Harper so far. Probably can't hurt to give him a break.

So, LA is back in, along with Levi! Great to see him back, all the best for your return! :thumbsu:

In: Levi Greenwood, Liam Anthony
Out: Cruize Garlett, Kieran Harper (Rested

cruize will enjoy a full game,

and anthony just prove me wrong
